... You're not supposed to wear a bands t-shirt to their concert? Huh... Okay, so we all know that it's one of those unwritten rules that you don't wear a band's t-shirt to their own gig. At least it's certainly one here, and I've seen people getting laughed at and slagged off for it before. BUT, are there exceptions? For example, what if the band isn't the headline act and is a relatively small supporting act? Or, what if it's a particularly small band anticipating a miniscule reception - what about wearing the band's t-shirt to give them the support of there being at least one fan in da house? Or what if the band had only just given you the shirt before they played? And what about band badges? Are they any different? Who are you, some kinda Korn kid?! :P Everyone knows that--punks, rockers, metalheads! Only the true dorks wear the band's shirt to their shows. Whaaa? What's wrong with wearing a band shirt at their concert? The only rule I heard of was you're supposed to wear the shirt the day after. O.o;; I bought a shirt there and put it on.. it wasn't the main band... I've never seen such a big deal in it. I wore my Hives t-shirt when I saw them at the Barrowlands (I'd bought it at their previous Glasgow gig at the tiny King Tut's Wah-Wah Hut), and the friend I was with said that I basically looked like a pretty pathetic fanboy... Not the nicest thing to hear, but she did emphasise the 'pretty'. After that, I pretty much avoided it. Last night I DID wear my Span (pretty average Norwegian rock band with a great stage presence) t-shirt to their support gig with Biffy Clyro, and the only comment I got was from Span's bassist - "Hey, nice t-shirt, man! Were you at the Vendetta Red gig then?" ....who made that rule? I don't see it making you a lame fanboy or whatever. Whats wrong with wearing the shirt of the band you came to see? I don't get it, DBD explain! I went to the Oleander/Our Lady Peace/Creed concert, but I didn't care about Creed (the headlining band) I wore the OLP shirt. Wearing a band's shirt to their own concert is pretty much the pinnacle in fanboyness--to wear their shirt is to explain that you love <soandso> so very much in a fanclub, or something of the sort. Sad, but the way of life. Saw a bunch of cheesy wannabe-mullet-rockers last night, Ten Benson - possibly the silliest serious band I've ever witnessed - and The Darkness - as 'Kerrang!' puts it, "The gay AC/DC, or the straight Queen". 'Twas silly. Very, very silly. I have been to over 100 concerts in my lifetime, including several Metallica shows and numerous local shows, and I have never heard of any rule which bars fans from wearing the bands' t-shirts. In fact, it's often the opposite, as i've seen several people get their asses kicked for wearing shirts of other bands. Especially in the local scene, where the band members themselves personally rip the shirts off of the people in the audience. I always wear the band's shirt, and nobody flips me any @#%$.
