09/12/2014: My previous attempt at renaming the directory to foil the spambots did not work. I'm trying now to change the login information for the SQL database. There may be a little bit of downtime but it shouldn't take long.
09/11/2014: I've been having problems with spambots preventing legit users from being able to sign up correctly. I've tried changing the directory from bbs to forums. Hopefully that will stop them and I can remove the retrictions stopping real users from signing up. Sorry if some of your bookmarks have become broken. They can be fixed by replacing bbs with forums in the properties.
I see nothing special about anime. First there are the shows like Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and Sailormoon. Pokemon is just a bunch of cockfighting involving creatures known as "Pokemon". Dragon Ball Z is just a bunch of fights stretch WAY too long, and Sailormoon is just a monster of the week show. "Great" anime like Akira is the same garbage but in a different bag. Akira is just another action movie, only animated. "Wow! Look at those cartoon characters bleeding! Cool!" Just when you think you've seen enough, someone recommends something in addition like The Vision of Escaflowne. The Vision of Escaflowne is just a hokey, formulaic fantasy show. No sooner does Van get into a bind than Allen Schezar conveniently pops out of nowhere to the rescue. Allen is said to look like some kid, and then we find out (Surprise! Surprise!) that he is actually the kid's father. Someone says that it is inhuman not to cry during Grave of the Fireflies, but then when you go out and watch the damn thing, you find out that it's almost impossible to sympathize with the characters because their pride is the cause of their own suffering.<br><br>I have seen the bad stuff. I have seen "great" anime like the lackluster Akira, the so-so Princess Mononoke, the pretentious Ghost in the Shell, the mindless action show Cowboy Bebop, the boring Grave of the Fireflies, the predictable The Vision of Escaflowne, and Neon Genesis Evangelion with its cheap, plastic "philosophy". I have even seen the "normal" anime shows like Tenchi Muyo, whose stereotype humor is about as sharp as a bale of cotton; the obnoxious Excel Saga; the unfunny Love Hina, which seems to be for fan boys to the tenth power; etc.<br><br>What really gets me is that so many anime fans dare to call anime "art". You want art? Go to an art museum! They say anime characters are really well developed when, in fact, they are mostly just stereotypes or post children for a personality trait. They also say that the Japanese voice actors are better than the English ones. Oh, yeah? How the HELL do you know that?! You don't understand Japanese! You're just saying that to make yourself look like a "true" fan.<br><br>In conclusion, I see nothing wonderful about anime. The flat characters, the messed up views about women, the high squeaky voices, the terrible frame rate. If there's anything that anime teaches you, it's how to animate at five frames per minute! <p></p><i></i>

Anime isn't for everyone. Just because you don't enjoy something doesn't mean that everyone is like you and doesn't enfoy it either.
