Personally I was starting to buy cds and crap again. I have given up totally on it. I joined the RIAA boycott. I did find a alternitive that is alot better than the current crop of no talent boy bands or robotic Pop or "Gangsta rap"

its here http://www.iuma.com/
Some great stuff and its free and legal. You can give money directly to the artists on here. Its unsigned and undergound stuff but its good.

Honestly the RIAA is going to loose in the court of public opinion and in the end music sales will continue to decline. (why pay 14 bucks for a cd when i can get 3 packs of Cd-rs for that price). I have quite the Cd collection and I have a drive dediated to backing it up(ive broken moe than 1 cd).
I don't share them.I own the cd. I have tapes still.

The movie people on the DVD's do make a crap load of money compared to the VHS. I feel that my 20 bucks is well spent if I get a high quality good movie. The extras make it that much better.

On a cd I get 1-2 songs I like and the rest I skip over. Then theres some crappy stuff if i stick it in my PC. (I will admit the 3 doors down DVD that came free with the cd was pretty good and it was a huge selling point).

IMO the music is crap very few bands are out there that have good all around albums. Well, the RIAA is an illegal monopoly as defined by the United States Federal Code, Title 15, Chapter 1, Section 2 --so this is exactly the kind of lawlessness we can expect. Also when you consider that the RIAA has long allied itself with the Democratic Party, it begins to look strange that they would suddenly start courting Republicans for its copyright war (see September issue of Rolling Stone, the one with the delicious Olsen Twins on the cover)... which I don't doubt for a second was intended as a move to make themselves look like the "victims"/"good guys"/"wholesome moral fiber of society de jour" in order to rally support from the largely-conservative population... that's a laugh, conservatives defending the music industry... but you're all seeing it for yourselves!

My brothers use Kazaa Light. They say it's a cheater. Say you can't get back to us. My dad is having a fit. He's downloaded stuff too. He's all paranoid that there gonna haul him off to jail and or make him pay for the rest of his life.

"Hashiriya are lonely drivers so, we do not need girlfriends."

I think that what the RIAA is trying to do is rediculous. When I was a kid we would take songs off the radio or borrow it from a friend and copy the hell out of the tape.

I don't see the difference between those practices which the industry never smiled upon but never took any steps to prevent and downloading off the Internet other than the convenience.

The fact remains that if somebody can't afford to buy a tape, they're not going to buy it. That doesn't mean that they won't find a way to get it.

Also most on most CDs, I'd say that I like about 30% of the songs on it. Being able to make mix cds and even better, with a CD player which will play MP3 format is great. I don't have to have an entire binder filled with cds that I might want to listen to. Just a few CDs will cover that.

"God's in his heaven and all is right with the world"
- Nerv
Tenchi Muyo, No Need for a Homepage

Basically, I haven't bought a CD in a year. I'm sick of paying almost 20 bucks for a CD I'm not sure I actually like. The last few times, I tried buying used CD's which they still charge almost 10 bucks for. I still have found that its not always worth it. No one can afford to buy every CD that has 1 song that they like! That is absolutely ridiculous. Of course, I have stopped downloading for the time being, but even my parents have asked me to download certain things for them, and now are afraid of a lawsuit. IÂ’m seriously ticked because there have been some discontinued CDÂ’s I have been trying to get my hands on, and some of the prices for those are astronomical. There. Is. No. Other. Way. To. Get. Them. Even on Kazaa they were really hard to find.

I will buy the new perfect circle cd when it comes out, as I have heard the new song on the radio and absolutely love it. However, that is pretty much it. Until the stupid companies start figuring out that the continuous screwing of the fans is going to keep them going on a downhill spiral, and they actually do something about it (say download a song 50 cents each or whatever), IÂ’ll stick to my 5 home radio stations and internet stations (which I havenÂ’t really used much before, but are now starting to look pretty good).

OK now my dad says that he's gonna disconnect the cable modem next month/cancel service. Says if my brothers want it, they can each put up $20 a month to pay for service. So, once again I might not be around to surf any more. So, ja ne.

"Hashiriya are lonely drivers so, we do not need girlfriends."

Universal is dropping the price of CDs from $18 to $13. ;o
Tapes have a percentage of their sale towards the RIAA.
The only thing that really gets their goat is that they have no way of getting any money from the music downloads, once they're able to take over the music download "scene," then they'll be happy :)

In otherwords, they're a crappy monopoly. :(

I hope that it works out for you, Chevy. I actually bought two CD's last week. The first two CDs I've bought in four years. I was proud of myself. But then again in the last week I've burned ten CDs. I'm going to hell.

That case was utter bullshit. Would they rather have the girl steal the damn CD? Geez. >.< I haven't bought a CD in ages, and I most likely won't for a long time. Why should I pay ridiculous amounts of money for a CD that has only one or two songs I like on it?

<border=3 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=3>

akaku nijimu taiyou wa subete o
terashite kita ima mo mukashi mo
kono yuuyami ni egaiteru souzou wa
hatashite kono te ni oenai mono na no ka?
motto ima ijou ni hadaka ni natte
ikite yuku jutsu oshiete yo
honno sukoshi dake watashi o yogoshite
sou yatte hitori kizutsuitari
mawari o nakushita to shite mo
shinjitsu no uta wa kono mune ni nagare

<img src="http://www.dimensionalstars.com/sesssamasig.jpg" border="0" alt="arasoi wa mada tsuzukun daroudono michi ima ga taisetsu na no sagamushara ni natte miotoshite kita monotatoeba dare ka no yasashii hohoemi mo"

RIAA is destroying their own outdated business model. Most of their customers are either brainless with no sense of money or ppl who does not know how to use kazaa. I like a saying from Coca cola owners, "Make your product so cheap that it is worthless to pirate." This is being said towards the chinese softdrink market. As you can see, if u can buy a cola at 50c a can, anyone who tries to pirate will only gain a few cents.

In my humble opinion USA music industry needs a revolution. Business and musicians alike. They need to start selling their CDs cheap like what record industries do in asia. If they market it at around $5 i am sure ppl will save some lunch money and get that favorite boy band or pretty-girl-who-has-no-talent CD.

I mean comon, a piece of software game cost around a music CD, and it is filled with hours and hours of hard labor.

I am old enough to remeber when 8 tracks replaced records. Everyone was in a hub-bub over the "astronomical" prices of them. Then came the cassette tapes, which where evil because you could record songs on them. Along with the tapes came the usual price increase. Then came the cd's, rediculously priced pieces of plastic, with the ability to be used in your vehicle, stereo, or computer. Not only are the record companies profiting over this, but the makers of the equipment used to play the media as well.

I also remember recording songs from the radio and tv on cassettes, as well as making vhs tapes of music videos from MTV. Quite frankly, I'm sick of rebuying albums. I too am sick of paying almost $20 for a cd in hopes that you will find another song or two on it that you will like. I simply refuse to buy a single for $5. I have purchased used tapes and cd's in the past, but you can get stuck with a piece of garbage.

In any case, I beleive in time this will all blow over and be forgotten. I am sure that in the near future there will be a different media type to buy.

"Perfect innocence is sometimes more suspicious than darkness"

CDs have already survived 10 years, and I believe they've got a while to go yet. :) Maybe another 10, as I don't see a real need to change the medium.

blut krieg sieg
