I have seen american idol a few times and the few times I have seen it - I saw William's performance. Now first off you know american idol is a scam because their is no way that he makes it through the "other judges" (The other judges besides Simon, Paula, and the other guy) that go through the 80,000 participants - if talent was their "main concern" their is no way William gets though. So what it comes down to is that the really good people go on and the really bad people go on as well, so their really is no middle ground. The really bad people are allowed to go through because lets face it, people like seeing other people make fools of themselves. I wonder what American Idols ratings are for the first few episodes and then once they get the 100 or what ever it is down to. I bet those first few episodes, maybe besides the last one are the highest in ratings.

O.K this brings me to my point. This William guy is a student at Berkely now you can't be the stupidest guy in the world to go to Berkely. I think he knew the situation and how American Idol works.. In otherwords, I think his performance was nothing more then a well thought out scheme to gain notarity. William knew he couldn't sing so he decided to make himself into a completely foolish sterotype to gain axcess to one of the largest viewed stages on T.V. to gain "his" nortarity. Because what other way can a guy like Will gain nortarity if that is what he really wants?

William realized that people like seeing people make fools of them selves and failing - especially, on a large stage and he took advantage of it and played the part perfectly. Now he is famous and will probably be remembered more then the winners of American Idol. I mean is "role" that he played is almost to perfect.

Of course I could be wrong and everthing he did could of been genuine and real

Conspiracy theorist...

I think he went on so that he could simply say (to friends, family, etc.), "Hey, I was on American Idol." I think he knew there was no chance he'd succeed, but I believe he just did it for fun and even now he doesn't take himself all that seriously (from what I've seen). I mean, if he doesn't mind looking silly and he's enjoying himself, then why not just ride the wave? Life is too short, and you have to admire people who enjoy it and at least give themselves a chance for success, despite the odds. Too many of us don't.

ZL

Empires wax and wane; states cleave asunder and coalesce.

"Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as the fire, steady as the mountain." A banner used by the Takeda clan of Kai (Sengoku Jidai era).

I saw a piece on NBC (I think it was NBC anyway), which also said he was going to take singing lessons. I recall that the anchor said something like "bad career move?" XD

Hey, whatever floats his boat. What if he becomes good enough to sing in Hong Kong or Singapore? He doesn't have to maintain his "success" only here afterall.

I think that because he doesn't take himself that seriously (with regard to what others think of him), he will take both success and failure in stride. Plus, he'll pursue whatever opportunities open to him, and that, as much as anything, often leads to great things. How many of us don't take advantage of the opportunities given to us?

ZL

Empires wax and wane; states cleave asunder and coalesce.

"Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as the fire, steady as the mountain." A banner used by the Takeda clan of Kai (Sengoku Jidai era).

"But you should click on the left column under the "Marry me Will" link. You'll be...amazed."

Unfortunately, that's not actually how girls work. The ones who are doing that are doing it because they think its funny. No one thinks he's for real. Everyone's just laughing at him that's why he gets so much attention. Oh yeah, him singing rofl...it's kind of sad, really...how all this has made him think of getting lessons

I think Joe's right.

No one truly think that this guy has any kind of talent.

I think it's more of a stunt. He can't possibly have hoped for anything with his skills. Come one now. Really. He must have known how bad he was.

No one in their right mind would want to see or hear this guy in some videoclip. It's probably about some bet and he lost (or won)...

Yep, I know what Naveed means now. I just watched "The Littlest Groom," a really stupid reality show where midget girls and reg. sized girls compete for a midget guy. Anyway, William Hung can be compared to, in this case, the midget guy. Seriously, those attractive, tall, women in shows like those are just trying to get attention. Thus, how the people who want to marry him act. =P

NOTE: I don't claim to understand women, just saying what I observe. ^^;; Oh, and also, I don't care if I'm not PC. I can't stand people who go out of their way to be PC anyway. =P

He's having fun with it.

I think people are over-analyzing here. He seems very honest and I think he is smart enough to know that the fame won't last. Still, while he has it, why not try to capitalize on it?

Additionally, who can say whether or not those girls are serious. I mean, just because it doesn't fly for one person, doesn't mean something holds true for everyone. :P Even if they aren't serious, they're having fun with it too. I'm sure he isn't taking any of those seriously.

ZL

Empires wax and wane; states cleave asunder and coalesce.

"Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as the fire, steady as the mountain." A banner used by the Takeda clan of Kai (Sengoku Jidai era).
