Harry Potter~

How many of you actually like the books? At first I shunned it because of the hype and I thought it was kinda 'kiddy' but this week I had a week off so I decided to read the books I was sent before. And w00t, I blew by then so fast...I just couldn't put them down. Sigh...I think now I'm semi-obsessed. I even started looking at book 6 rumor sites now.... o.O; Oh, I read Sorceror's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Order of the Phoenix in 5 days...barely ate or slept. >< I'm like dying waiting for the 6th and 7th books. I read the back in 2000 when they first started to take off, I've read them all excpet I never finnished Order of the Pheonix, it bored me to death, I've lost interest in the books, but I still look forward to seeing the new movie. <div style="text-align:center"><img src="http://midnightlagoon.com/Sabrina/jaygif.gif"/></div>

I've only seen the second movie and it gave me a head ache...I'm not such a big fan of the whole series in general, but maybe that's because I've never read any of them...I don't plan to either. They're too long, and I can barely fit enough time for my physiology reading. I understand that a lot of people do like them though, so I try not to hate on the series...just not really for me.

J.K. Rowling cast a huge spell on me too. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> I got the first two books as a gift a few years back, and it was awhile before I decided to pick them up and read them. Once I did, however, it was just like your experience Joe...I couldn't put them down. I know there are people who don't like them (for a variety of reasons...some can't see past the commercial success, others think they are two kiddie like you said, some just don't like Fantasy, and some just don't like her writing style), but they were pure magic for me. Additionally, the more recent books have been getting darker in theme as well, so I don't feel like the series is kiddie at all. I can't wait for the next two books to come out. Btw, book four was my favorite (Goblet of Fire). I read one a long time ago, like in 2000. I didn't really like it and instead read The Lord of The Rings after that. Last summer my Mam brought home the rest of the series and I was really bored at the time so I decided t read them. The others were much better than the first (even though I had seen the second movie) and I finished all them during August. I'm waiting for the 3rd movie now (which the trailer looks amazing) and the 6th book (which I don't know nothing about). Yeah...I didn't like the first one either and the second wasn't so hot but the others are really good. I really like how JKR has made the series darker...especially with Voldy and his lackies coming more into the fray. =] I'm realy looking forward to the third movie though I do have some gripes with it. Come on, you can't make them wear muggle clothes...it just doesn't seem right. <_< And the casting of Lupin is weird. o.O At first sight he's kinda goofier than I pictured him. Oh well, I hope it's a good movie. =] Can't wait till they make a movie out of OotP(my fav book). I really really look forward to how they portray Umbridge and I'm interested in how they'll make the Department of Mysteries scene like. Ooo, and there's another HP thread? I liked OotP too, but my mam said she hated it because it was too dark and sad. I agree with you on the casting of Lupin, I think he should look like an older version of the Lupin in my sig. I didn't picture him that way since that *kinda* looks like Quatra. ^^; I do see what you mean though. I did picture him in his late 40s at first but that's kinda too old. And I thought he was kinda like those homeless people I see on the subway by the way he was depicted on the train in PoA. Hehe, me = weird. Anyway, I kinda like it being "darker." Though I can see how it might put off people who got into it originally because it was a fun, and not necessarily dark, book. Ooo, and I just noticed this but I always get sorted into Gryffindor whenever I try to do those quiz-things. I started reading HP when I got the first book a few days after Christmas. I am not sure how long it took me to finish the rest of them. I think I really started to like them after the 3rd book, Lupin was my favorite character!!! I didn't try them all, of course, but it's always gryffindor...grr, must be rigged. ^^; Ooo, and Sirius is my favorite character. I like most of the Marauders, actually, but he gets bonus points for dying!! ^I certaintly hope not! He was one of the more interesting characters and just doesn't sound like Rowling to have an awsome character like Sirius to get dumped so quickly. Did anyone get a bit frusterated at how Harry handled his first relationship? I could have sworn I really wanted to punch him in the back of the head for letting Cho go so easily.

I think I got the characters mixed up, I was thinking of Harry's godfather Sirius Black. My Bad!! Thanks for the link. I hope not also... Harry had finally found a father-figure and he got taken away so soon. I can't wait till JKR tells us more about the veil and what's behind it, since I don't think Sirius died because of the spell. What's also interesting is the locked door in the DoM. Even Sirius' 'break-in-to-everything-knife didn't work on it. o.O; Oh, and I never really liked Cho except for the fact that she's asian...lol I think she's just confused about her feelings. It's obvious she's still not over Cedric, and so she wants to be with the guy who was with him when he died...to find out info. At least that's part of it, I think. But I dunno, I'm more of an H/Hr guy, myself. They're sooo kyoot together! Actually, the relationship aspect of the book is starting to get more interesting. They're in that age and there's all sorts of possibilities. But I still want H/Hr... =P EDIT: Ravenclaw is my fav house but Gryffindor's shield is the best...
