True, but booze only stalls the pain, it doesn't cure it.

Well, it's not so much a broken heart story, but more a lesson in humility that I'm about to share...

Guys...

Sometimes, life is too good, too smooth.

Sometimes, the love of your gf slowly inflates your head...out of proportions...

Sometimes, you start to say stupid things and act like a jerk because of the above point.

Well, this just happened to me.

Know that as good-looking as YOU think you are, all that really counts is how handsome YOUR GF THINKS you are.

So don't do like me. Don't go and say that you're good-looking 4 times in 5 minutes, even if it's to tease her.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go drink some therapy...

I'd just like to say...

That if you don't want to identify yourself you don't need to. Change the names of those involved (and if it's you, you can post your story and not say it's you). People might still be able to help out, even if they are reading about "your friend's" story. :P

ZL

Thanks for the wise words DTM. Ah, lessons in humility are difficult to swallow but very fast teachers.

Empires wax and wane; states cleave asunder and coalesce.

"Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as the fire, steady as the mountain." A banner used by the Takeda clan of Kai (Sengoku Jidai era).

DTM, been there done that. Sometimes men forget that women actually like you as a person more than what you look like. I did the same dang thing and got called on it. They don't like that and now you know. For the rest of you reading... take note, don't do what we did.

"Hashiriya are lonely drivers so, we do not need girlfriends."

^^Amen to that.

As for me, I had an uncle I called Stueben who had Parkinsons Disease since his childhood.

Throughout most of his life he dealt with Parkinsons as best as he could by himself and would refuse professional help and advice most of the time.

He thought he could do it on his own and for nearly 30 years he went about happy and care-free as he could without indicating his illness.

And it was about 2 years ago that my uncle Stueben was fired for getting into an arguement with the manager and was put-down even when he went back and gave a hear-felt apology for his outburst he was turned away.

Just a few days after, Stueben went down to his hometown's railroad station, drank a coke, and laid his head upon the rail as the train was coming into the station.

Not something you want to hear about how your favourite uncle ended his life but that's the way of it.

Some of you might think of negative or positive things about my uncle's suicide and that's fine, everyone has their thoughts. But I for one hope he's at rest wherever he is and is doing well after all those years of pain he suffered from within.

So, if you have friends or family that you enjoy spending time with, cherish and remember those moments you spend. Because you never know when someone who you thought could never leave, might just vanish from your life.

As my father says; Don't be sorry that someone died, be grateful that they lived.

Wow, that's a very tragic story Fwingbon. Recalling the painful memories about your Uncle couldn't have been easy. Thank you for sharing them.

My family has been touched twice in the past 10 years by suicide, so I know how awful and tragically wasteful it is. Yes, the memory of their lives remains among those whom they leave behind, but for a long time so does the pain caused by their suicide. Personally...no matter how desperate the situation one should always try to find a way to live through it.

But you're right. Cherish the good memories and appreciate those who you are close to while they are here. Afterall, who knows what the future holds, and as old the saying goes, life is too short.

ZL

Empires wax and wane; states cleave asunder and coalesce.

"Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as the fire, steady as the mountain." A banner used by the Takeda clan of Kai (Sengoku Jidai era).
