Ok I'll answer Chevy's and Linden's questions and then I'll pick another person. ^_^ What is an LJ? An LJ is a <a href="http://livejournal.com" target="top">Live Journal</a>. What kind of car do my parents drive? My mum drives a Nissan X-Trail. And my dad drives a Nissan "Z". My dad works for Nissan... :P How tall am I? Last time I checked I was 5'11"... Linden's questions. How long is my hair? Well not long enough to stick up but not long enough to tie it back or call it long. I need a hair cut anyway... Might grow it long. The first letter of my real name is S. And Marmite... Ick! Eww! Bleh! It makes me sick, even the smell of it. But you either hate it or love it. In my case I despise it. AHHH! WEB PROBLEM! Questions below. ------------------ Once I bruised my knee real bad. A few days later I played paintball and got shot in the same spot as the bruise, yet I told no one. What in life has shocked/amazed the most? Do you think the government is hiding something? (Goes with above question) If so, what? In your opinion, what band in the seventies had the most controversy? ------------------ Once I bruised my knee real bad. Sorry guys, I completely forgot about this with several Uni deadlines... ^^;;; I shall now answer the questions!!! Fwingbon Ali What's your favourite personal item? Other than my PC (an essential item in my life), it'd have to be my 7" vinyl single 'Buddy Holly' by Weezer. It was given to me by a friend in place of a Hives gig ticket and it kicked off my vinyl record collection and reinvigorated my love of the weez. And it sounds damn good too. How did you come by your handle? It is a long and dangerous story... One I asked GR to find out for me, and she didn't. I started using it on a Star Trek message board when holidaying in Spain. It quite possibly derives from a pokemon reference... I'm actually half-considering ditching it in favour of a far more apt title I've been using of late... If you had two wishes, what would you wish for? Discernable skill and talent. Chevy What will become of The Darkness? They won't last. I remember first properly encountering them a bit over a year ago, when a promo copy of 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman (@#%$!)' arrived at the offices of the Strathclyde Telegraph (a place where, for some reason, people pay attention to some of what I say). I immediately fell in love with it. It is a cracking little garage rock tune with a lot of nods toward the showmanship of glam, hair metal and operatic rock - I still do love that track for those reasons. I immediately wrote a review of the single, saying that they'll be the next big thing in rock. The editor disagreed and didn't publish it. Then got on the guestlist to see tham playing at the 300 person capacity King Tut's Wah-Wah Hut in Glasgow. After a thoroughly enjoyable set, I decided they were highly entertaining, a thrilling live outfit and a lot of fun, but not really anything particularly thrilling in the rest of their music outside of their recent single. They then released another single and the public at large caught on to them. They have that strange effect, in that they seem to have a different bait for every person, but every bait is there. Can't say I'm a fan of the rest of their stuff. The thing about The Darkness is that a lot of their popularity lies in their supposed novelty value as a window to the soem might say shameful past of rock during the 80s. But it is important to note that they are not themselves a joke. They do tyhings with a nod and a wink, but have a very serious approach to the music that they truly love. They're not a total piss-take like Weird Al, doing it all for the comedy, with the music largely an afterthought - they write the music based upon their own collection, then style their image and stage act after it. Of the large number of people who like The Darkness, exactly how many would say they honestly love the music in itself? A fair number, but nowhere near the number whose following dictates their current industry status. When the joke grows old for such fans, the trip will be over for The Darkness. The true fans they've acquired will remain loyal and keep them going, but playing to nowhere near the sizes of audiences they currently do. And, most importantly, Michael Eavis will be of true significance for far longer yet than they will. What are you driving? A crappy old Volkswagon Polo. "The Turkmobile", as I refer to it. What is your favourite food? Pizza, no contest. 2. Why is Irn-bru orange? Because when originally distilled, it came out of the taps that way. It was only when it was discovered the colour was due to rust in the pipes that they named it 'Iron Brew'. Safety laws then got them to get rid of the rusty pipes, so they started using dye to maintain it's unique look. A later law stated that they couldn't call it 'iron brew', because it no longer contained any iron. So they simply misspelled it, calling it "Irn-Bru". 3. Marmite, love or hate it? I like it, but Bovril's better.
