Earlier this month, a great man, Ronald Reagan, left this world. As much as some of you may hate Republicans and conservatives, Reagan did make the world a better place. Reagan limited government's influence during his term, stabilized a bad economy, and, most importantly, won the Cold War. Although terrorists are dangerous, they are nowhere near as dangerous as the threat posed under the Cold War. The world could've been destroyed by nuclear war, but Reagan, along with others, eliminated the threat of the Cold War. Although he has become a controversial figure, Reagan united the nation (48 states voted for him in 1984) and made America the dominant, prosperous state it is today. Finally, Reagan was one of the few "good" politicians. He led a good family life, and maintained good moral standards for himself, which he did not impose upon the American people. Whether you agree with his political philosophy or don't, Reagan was a great man, and America prospered under him. America, along with the rest of the world, lost a great man.

I'm neither liberal nor conservative, as I don't believe either side is always right. However, I respect Reagan and found his loss to be sad. He was a bit too paranoid on some things for my tastes, but I thought all of the people who put him down and insulted him on the day of his death were very rude. I think the best way to look at it is at least he's no longer suffering. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease that affects not only the person who has it, but also the people who care about said person.

Reagan was the last good president, Bush Sr. and Clinton both screwed up, Bush Jr. has a chance to be good if he can win the War on Terror without making America less free. Reagan was a great man, he was even nice to his critics, and always showed good humor. Some of his speeches will be quoted forever, as well. I believe that Reagan's presidency saved America from becoming a one-party state, either through Democrat domination or communist subersion. What makes me sick is that some people actually cheered when they heard the news of Reagan's death (some demonstrators). It is sick when people cheer when someone dies, especially someone who doesnt deserve it like Reagan.
