Personally, I didn't think the topic was that bad...if you knew what to expect. Don't feel bad for making the topic CA. This section was rather dull for awhile anyway, and your topic, despite the contoversial tone, at least enlivened the place for a bit. I'm going to try and make more topics myself again soon. I take great interest in this section and anyone who makes a topic on whatever subject is more than welcome to do so (as long as it doesn't violate the board rules). It's just that the language and confrontation level was beginning to turn into a shouting match rather than a discussion, and that isn't good. Maybe the board rules need to be clarified further on over the top posting...<br><br>My own take on Science and Religion are that they are not necessarily antithetical to one another, but each exists in its own distinct realm. Sometimes they intersect and agree, while at other times they seem to conflict, but ultimately neither will ever be able to edge the other out completely. Science is the realm of the observable, replicatable, and quantifiable...though at times even it relies upon forces and objects that cannot be directly seen or experienced (nobody has seen an atom or been into the center of a black hole for instance). Faith is felt and experienced, but it does not have to be seen, observed, or measured. It's boundless, and those who believe in it will never be disuaded from their belief, no matter what science may say. My personal belief is that there is a place for each in this world.<br><br>Anyway, don't worry about it CA. I still maintain my belief that certain topics should not be brought up in certain social situations (ie message boards), due to the fact that no matter how innocent the topic may begin, and no matter how many people post in a friendly discussion style, it will inevitably degenerate into a pointless, idiotic shouting match between two or three people.<br><br>Thank you, Botan, for taking care of that topic... That's true, but if every political or religious topic in censured, then we would really stifle the range of discussion in here. Granted, creating a topic titled science vs. faith would automatically seem to engender confrontation, but it need not have gotten out of hand. A lot of the discussion wasn't bad, it's just that the level of civility eventually eroded and things began getting personal. Closer moderation of the topic, to ensure that it remained on point and did not degenerate into a shouting match, may have allowed it to continue.<br><br>This section was practically dead for awhile other than that one topic anyway.
