Howl's Moving Castle

I am looking foward to this film getting release over here. A mix of Hayao Miyazaki and Diana Wynne Jones, it's got to be good!

Ah, great! It's apparently supposed to be showing in Cinemas in Australia sometime soon (We miss out on many Anime screenings down here), and as Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite books, I'm definately going to see it!

Yes, the Howl in that movie seems to be a little dissapointing- I understand it's an AU-ish Howl, but the one in the book was supposed to be... a little older? As in, typical scornful "Gentleman"... Oh well...

Older? I don't know, it is a long time since I read the book but I didn't imagine him as being very old... He looks about right from the trailers I saw.
Having said that I'm not expecting it to be very similar to the original, it's not trying to be (as you said it's AU). It's Miyazaki's interpretation of that world and such should be different.

Hmm, I guess people's impressions of characters are a little different, and tend to vary.

Yes, a lot more machine-world style- it'll be interesting to see the similarities with it and Miyazaki's previous works, besides the character design trend. =P

Oh yeah fogot to mention they got Billy Crystal to do one of the voices. That was pretty neat I thought. I guess when you're Disney you can get who ever you want. Just look at Mononoke. They got Gillian Anderson, Billy-bob Thornton, Billy Coudrup, Minnie Driver, and Claire Danes.

Anyway I really enjoyed it. It had a lot of similar environment like his other movies. It also draws you into the film quite well with well developed characters.

Yeah seeing anime on the big screen was pretty cool. Its kinda expensive to see a movie though omg. The other thing was that there were only 5 people in the entire theater. Three of them were me and my friend. I don't imagine that movie theaters would be very encouraged to show a lot of anime if attendence doesn't go up.

I saw Ghost in the Shell 2 on the big screen too. Well it wasn't that big a screen but it was at the movies. THere were like 25 - 30 people in there so that was kinda good.
