O.K. dude I have English heritage in me and I'm so proud of it. But I have a few questions that have been troubling me that I could not get off the internet. O.K. now how come so many English people hate Scottland? Didn't we conquer it first(if any of my English board users post, I'm Scottish so watch it...)? Whoese the rednecks of the U.K.? The Scottish or the Waleish? How come we gave up Austrailia, New Zeland, Ireland, and Canada? The others make sense since we lost them to really good guerilla war fare.

I don't think many English people hate the Scottish; it's much more the other way around (although I think hate is a bit strong, EUJ would be the one to talk about this). Scotland is certainly much more vocal about their desire for self governance than Wales. They have their own limited Parliament (as does Wales) as well as their own laws although they still fall under the overall control of the British Parliament in Westminster (London). Personally I've never experienced any strong hatred either way. I think more supposed thing that actual, but I've not spent much time in Scotland ^^ It seems somewhat similar to the rivalry between the north and south of England. Within Scotland there are many pushing for complete independence, although personally I think this is unlikely any time soon as I can only imagine the chaos such a move would cause in Ireland.

As for Rednecks I don't think we have an equivalent (at least as I understand the word). I think the closest equivalent here is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chavs">chav</a>. Although maybe those from the <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_country>west country</a> or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire">Yorkshire</a> fit the more rural part.

The break up of the British Empire occurred after World War II and started mainly due to independence movements (firstly in India), as well as the fact the empire was a lot poorer after the war and couldn't afford to keep the straining empire together. Very few countries, as far as I know, actually fought for their independence.
Many former colonies remain a part of the "Commonwealth of Nations"; an organisation without any direct power which seeks to promote democracy and human rights as well as provide good trade ties and economic interaction. Within the Commonwealth some nations (not all, but including those you mentioned) still recognise the British Monarch as their separate head of state.

Linden is right, we do take the "micky" out of Welsh people slightly more, though that is harmless fun as far as I know, we say funny things about them, they beat us at Rugby, or something along those lines...
Back home I know some Welsh people, great people, and when my family went on Holiday there, it was always a nice experience.

Though I think Irish people get the worst of it, and I am quarter Irish myself (My Grandmother is from there). I enjoy a good Englishman, Scottsman and Irishman joke, like the one about the wish grating slide that the Englishman shouts Gold as she slides down, and lands in a pile of Gold, the Scottsman shouts Silver, and the Irish shouts "WEEEEEEE!" and gets whiplash as he collides with a pile of Nintendo Consoles....
