That's a long one, and with my dislike of football I'm probably not the best to know. But I gather it's partly that they are just the two biggest teams in Scotland, and have almost always takes spots 1 and 2 in the Scottish league (hence their name; the old firm, implying they run the scene) and are both based in Glasgow. It's also tied in with Sectarianism (Celtic/Catholics and Rangers/Protestant). |
