It's a special side effect of Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate). It's a sedative. It's an antipsychotic. And antipsychotic medications can screw with your body heat regulation. Which means if you're in the heat, you can EASILY over heat and become dehydrated. That's what happens to me. It causes your heartbeat to accelerate, and you start becoming ill. And you could have a heat stroke. Seroquel is used for the treatment of hallucinations, loss of contact with reality, false beliefs, and delusions. In a nutshell, Schizophrenia. It is also used for the treatment of Mania. In a nutshell Bipolar Disorder. As for me, I'm not quite schizophrenic. It's not documented anyway. I had to lie on most of my paper work to make my problems seem less severe than they really are. Only to please my mother. She was being selfish, and didn't want my doctor to know the complete truth, only some. My treatment lies on top of Hypomania. Rapid speaking, insomnia, racing thoughts (rapid but perfectly crafted), ADHD, anxiety, biting or chewing of the skin, and OCD. Most of my problems are with the the rapid speaking (ex. Quick responses to people talking; or the ability to improvise easily on the spot. Which comes in handy in a tight situation. Lol. Also, I can see the images of the thoughts that are racing in my head, which tend to make my concentration weak.) Also with OCD, and the biting and chewing of my skin. Insomnia is a big one too, that's one of the main reasons I'm on Seroquel. 400mg knocks me out for 9-12 hours. They say hypomanic people are cold and uncaring, and that's pretty much true in my case. Lol. If pushed to a certain limit, I can be homicidal. Which is interesting, I like being in control of those who fear me. By the way Min; Yes, Florida has a LOT of hay. We have a lot of cattle, and yes again, my father's family lives in Florida, we all do. For the most part, anyway. Oh, and sorry for making that long and dramatic, when you're diagnosed with theses things, you learn a lot about yourself, and the disorder. I tried to keep it as simple as possible. Rapid speaking not only works in real life, but when I'm trying to explain something online. You could have easily read a short paragraph online or something, but I think the information is more truthful and easier to understand when coming from an actual person, not a book. No fancy words needed!! |

Wow, that's one intresting pill Nah, it's fine. I like to know about my friends. But I have to say ECF that your not cold or non-caring. I think your warm and loving person. You welcomed me back with open arms and more enthusiam (I probably spelled that wrong) than anyone... no offense to everyone else. Now, when I think of agriculture in FL I think of tomatoes and oranges (actually oranges are in horticulture I believe), not cattle or hay. It seems weird to me for some reason. |

That's because I love you Min. XD. I felt so bad when you left. The only reason I stayed here was to see if you'd come back. Now, towards people around me - I can be a very hateful person, but I have no reason to be upset with anyone on this board. You're right though, tomatoes and oranges are a major part of our agriculture. Also, strawberries are pretty big when they're in season. People that don't live here don't know about our cattle because it's not one of our staples. But, it's pretty important I guess. I also live on the borderline of the big city and the country. I get a dose of both. My mother's family lives in the cramped city, and my father's family lives on 4-5 acres of land. Personally, I love the country. |

Sorry, I didn't mean to make ya' feel bad T.T Just thought you moved on so that's why I left, but I kept a link to this site just to see what has changed and saw your post quite frequently so I thought I come back! Hope that doesn't sound like a stalker or summat. I love the country to. So, much stuff to do. Go out fish, target practice (I'll only shoot a game/fowl that is in season), try to escape the cops for you know that they know you have 100 liters worth of moonshine (ok ok I made that part up). I like to visit the city, but NEVER live. Last summer, I actually stayed in Seattle for a week... in the suburbs... *shudder* |

Well, I'm not allowed to use a gun, or things like that. I like the country around here because there's NOTHING to do. Everyone has their emotional escape. Things they do when they need to step away from the world. I don't do drugs anymore (except my prescribed medication), they ruined my life; I rarely drink now. So my escape from reality is sleep. When I can't sleep, I'm the worst person in the world to come across. Take some sedatives, and off to nothing-land. It's depressing, and not really healthy. But to me, anything that I'm doing that is NOT sleeping, is a living hell. Now that my sister is living with me, I can't get away with it, she makes me get up. Before she moved in, I was sleeping 15-18 hours at a time. Now I only get 10-12. |

Um.. when I'm not sleeping, I listen to music, or draw/paint or whatever else artistic I can find. Writing helps. Anxiety does suck. |

Yep yep I have a relative and another friend who find their best escape is sleep, which is true. When I have a bad day I just want to crawl underneath my sheets and let the darkness hold me... *cough* However, my relative used to pop pills due to really bad memories when she was a kid, and she'd be drunk & high during the night, one time she was asleep during the entire day everyone thought she was dead. Until she got up at 4 p.m. that was a relief Then my buddy here pops 'em for the same reason, but only when she goes to bed. She doesn't want to get high, but just to make sure she falls asleep apparently. |

That's understandable. But I'll just go ahead and admit that I take at least triple or plus the amount of anything I need or want. I'm no better than anyone else. I can understand why someone would get high and try to forget their past. It's the easiest way to live in my opinion. When I'm not zoned out, thoughts just hammer down in my head. Waves crashing on the shore, and it feels like exactly that. After I've taken my meds, I can't feel anything but fatigue. I can't think, walk straight, speak correctly, or anything. It feels wonderful. |

Isn't their a crash effect afterwords? |

Depends on what you're taking. Aspirin, ibuprofen, dextromethorphan (DXM) and other pain medications. First off, normal over the counter pain medication (or specially prescribed) makes you tired because it impairs the function of your body that absorbs nutrients. That's one of the things that zaps your energy. All of what I listed affects your brain and nerves. Meant to suppress whatever pain is being felt. Too much of it can completely handicap your brain temporarily, causing a crash affect. It's great. And not illegal. As if it ever stopped me anyway. XD |

Well, everyone is different. And really, it mostly only takes affect to your liver and kidneys. I look at it as.. You only have one life, why live it in pain? So when I'm older I'm going to have to be in an assisted living home? I don't care. I'll probably end up taking 10 seroquels before then so I never wake up. I'll never know it, will I? |

Well, I'm sorry, but it's the truth. I lived in misery for so long, and now I have the chance to control it. I'm not going to let it get the better of me. I have the potential to be a good person. And I'm not going to let my disorder ruin my chances. |
