So I was watching the news today, and they announced McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin. So as the 40-something year old woman is speaking, if you watch McCain he shifts his eyes and appears to be staring at her ass.

I'm excited for her to be VP!
I was reading this article and it said, "Obama is for the ban of AR-15's, but Palin shoots AR-15's and has a pretty good shot too".
I want her in office. Heck, if she was running for President I would lie about my age and vote for her!
This intelligent and magnificent woman is on the levels of the common man. She relates unlike the poliiticians in D.C.
Any woman who hunts, shoots guns, fishes, or even trap and is not afraid to share her beliefes in the eyes of the liberal masses diserves to be office for she will never back down!

It's so obvious Palin was picked just because she's a woman, and her conservative mannerisms will help McCain's old-fashioned approach, but this is going to bite the Republicans on the ass if they don't watch out. Yeah the Dems can't criticize her lack of experience without looking hypocritical, but the Reps are the ones who have been harping on the importance of experience this whole time.

I don't know I'm not a huge fan of her. If McCain was trying to capture some Hillary voters, she's no Hillary Clinton. McCain's been running on the lack of experience of Obama and elects a VP with even less experience than he has. Even Karl Rove is pissed about her nomination. And I never agree with Karl Rove.

She's a former beauty queen (Just like Cindy McCain), who has practically no polital experience (Govenor of Alaska for 20 months, Mayor of her hometown of 7,000 people). Her first son's name is "Track". She was an athlete and her nickname was "The Barracuda". She wanted a job at ESPN, finally got offered one but turned it down because she didn't want to "Leave Alaska"

As for a ban of AR-15's, I dont' think anybody outside of Law Enforcement, The Military, and limited licenced experts needs access to an assault rifile. With no ban, they end up in the hands of gang members and people who show up at their school or workplace and kill innocent people. Not to mention, I don't like the idea of the criminals having better weapons than the police.

It feels like she doesn't add any strategic value to the campaign. Alaska was firmly in McCain's hands. And by selecting her, McCain sacrificed Michigan, Virginia, and most likely Ohio.

She did support the Bridge to Nowhere a few years ago, now she says she never supported it.

And I've noticed already, that she has a tendency to say things without thinking of them. Take for example this clip, where she doesn't believe she has the nomination and tries to play down the position.

I don't want some stupid politcal debate for feelings just get hurt.
Don't get me wrong I like to have these conversations, but these things can get out of control and it's just stupid and pathetic to start arguing over the internet instead of face to face otherwise I would be defending Palin as we speak.

I do agree with ECF, Political discussions always seem to decline into shouting matches. No matter how mature the people discussing them are.

As for the assault rifle ban, I just don't see how anybody legally needs access to a weapon like that. Making those weapons illegal for the general public may not prevent the criminals from getting them completely, but I imagine it would decrease the number readily available.

For example, I was in a very cool store last week. They sold all kinds of cool knives, swords, etc. And in the window for sale was a Thompson Machine Gun and an AK-47.

I also have a friend who's sister bought an AK-47 for her abusive boyfriend. Literally, the guy beat her up on a regular basis and she bought him an AK-47 for like 300 bucks at a local gun store. He kept the thing loaded under their bed. Thank god when they broke up she threw him out of the house before he could get the damn thing. They were both living in her parents' house.

That is awful...and really short of sad. I've always wondered how people can remain in an abusive relationship. I mean, I assume the normal things, like an 'urge to be loved' and so forth, but ...I guess there's just an aspect of it that I would expect a certain amount of realization.

I'm glad she got out of it though.

I have to say, despite the obvious downfalls, it was a better move for the Repubicans that some of the other options. Though their tactic may not work, picking a female VP was a smart move on their part.

But...we have to see what America thinks. They ARE the judge after all.
