I chose Spanish over Japanese in school, mainly because that will be much more useful in my area. However, maybe one day I'll take Japanese.

My middle school was cool like that. It was a 2E school, meaning twice exceptional. Both good and bad to that, by the way. So they offered quite a few unique options.
