Okay boys, I don't normally ask questions like this, but I can't seem to figure this one out on my own. It boggles my mind. I don't know if it's just my boyfriend or all males...but can someone help me?

Before I'll ask my question, I'll give some background. Now, may the record state that I do not BLAME my boyfriend, but merely find frustration that is probably my own fault.

I could tell this evening that my boyfriend was upset about something. I asked him what was wrong and he basically told me that if he simply bottled whatever it was I wouldn't have to worry and things would be dandy.

Now...my personality doesn't allow me to accept that with dropping the topic. I can drop it if someone doesn't feel like talking. But...I can't drop something when someone wants to make sure I won't be upset. It gets me really stressed out and it just isn't an option.

Anyhoo...I started to get a little irrate over the situation, and my boyfriend stated that he'd rather me be angry than sad.

So...here's my question boys:
Why would you rather have your girlfriend mad at you than sad?

I personally don't understand it. I completely hate myself when I'm mad because I get rather...wicked. When I'm sad, I can tragic hero all my feelings out.

Do you boys get it? Or is it just my guy?

He doesn't want to talk about it because he knows that you can't do anything about it.

Though it's impossible to know exactly what it is, it's probably a feeling he's confused about, so let him think about it some more.

When a guy wants to bottle it up, let him, guys take care of their own feelings better when others aren't involved... Usually.

I blurt out everything I can, so I'm not the best one to give advice. But I will say this: if he wants to talk eventually, he will.

Alright boys, obviously you completely missed my question and misinterperated what I wrote.

I do not NEED advice about the issue. That was BACKGROUND information. I am not an idiot and can handle that problem myself. It's not like I was a nosey little witch who demanded answers. I simply told the boy that if he didn't want to tell me something, the whole 'it might upset you thing' isn't a valid topic ender. I told him if he didn't want to talk about it, we didn't have to, just say 'I don't want to talk about it'. It wasn't a big blow out fight or anything. -Rant_End.-

MY QUESTION WAS:
Why would anyone prefer a girl to be pissed off rather than sad. Wouldn't angry be worse? That makes no sence to me at all.

Well, I think that means he truly cares for ya Comix. Better a short quarrel than an underlying sadness.

well anger can be useful, where as sadness doesn't really accomplish anything.
so out of the two your probably better off being angry or somthin?

With a girlfriend, they tend to be angry for short but brutal bursts.

A girlfriend being sad tends to lead to break ups, or overlying depression over the entire relationship.

He may be wiser than he seems... He just needs to be quiet for the effect to be EFFECTIVE

Yeah... But understand why he said that now? Guys tend to understand what makes their girlfriends feel a certain way, so there is always a reason why they do or don't do certain things.

Well, here's the thing:

He has no idea how I'm going to react at all. Often times it's a bigger deal in his head than in my own. No one has any control on how others will act. I don't like being bet on.

For me it would have to be a very complex situation from me to talk about my emotions if something was really upsetting me as you guys can see I like to blurt out my emotions XD.

Well no...but I don't think you understand the reason I was irritated.

I asked him if he wanted to talk to him about it. He said "he didn't want to upset me".

That is BETTING. If you don't want to talk about you say "no, I don't want to talk about it." Not this whole: I don't want to upset you crap. It's perfectly fine to not want to talk about something, but you don't have to make a REASON. You just say "I don't want to".

It's not like I'm a big bad female of something.
