OK, I haven't made an AMV in about 2 or 3 years, but I still produce other videos (mostly military stuff, sometimes I help my kids make their own) using Sony Vegas Movie Studio - but I wanted to a more powerful sound editer and downloaded Audacity (it's free, you know!) The built-in and free plugin effects are great, but I'm pretty much ignorant as to editing the damn clips after applying effects. It's a great program - my kids like to use it to record themselves and them "chipmunk" their voices by changing the pitch - but I can't seem to move clips over another track at a place i want them to go. any help appriciated. ann |

Sorry but I can't be much of a help. But when I made my video years back, I used the very simple, but effective Windows Movie Maker. |

Seto, I made all my AMVs with windows movie maker - but my husband bought me the Sony program and I didn't use it for about a year until I was asked to do a retirement video roast for my boss at the time. Steep learning curve for the Vegas, but well worth the effort. Still don't know all the program can do, but I have tested it's limits in video layering (3 shown, 4 forced) unless you upgrade to professional. You have unlimited audio tracks, and can edit in envelopes with Vegas, but it is very limited to audio levels, pretty much. plus the video editing (in 4 layers) takes up alot of RAM so it's best to edit audio seperately in another program and i didn't want to buy the Vegas Recording Studio as well. Not saying I'm a great producer (especially if you ask Jibril), but most of what I do now is based on what other ppl ask for - and now I've been asked to change the lyrics of a famous song using the sound editing software effects to match the sound of the origional lyrics. It's kinda cool and could be used to great effect on AMV's. But, I did just get an email pointing me to a youtube tutorial that shows me what I'm looking for. Thanks, ann |
