Well, I do have a report. A detailed one. And I'm thinking the thread would be cool. Her paren'ts don't care, and her doctors certainly don't. I gave her a penguin plushie. SHE LOVES THEM! I was actually VERY surprised that they let me see her. I thought it was just going to be her sister, but she let me tag along.

She is doing better/worse. I'm not too sure which one dominates though. For the good part, she doesn't mind visits, whereas before, she refused to look at or talk to anyone, even those that wanted to help. But when she saw me, she hugged me so tight.. And I just wanted to cry because you can look into her eyes and see everything that she had been holding back for so long. She's got bruises everywhere from either fighting with doctors or herself, perhaps both. It broke my heart. But she's got strength, so that's good. That's basically the only thing that's going semi-okay.
The bad part, is that is getting into the habit of not eating. Which, the first few days that she refused, they were going to leave her alone, but she still doesn't. When she does.. Let's just say that it doesn't stay where it should be. And they can't stop her, because it's not like they are going to strap her down, they aren't allowed. It's apparent that she doesn't sleep. She doesn't take the medicine they give her. The woman she was assigned too, cleans through her small room EVERYDAY. She doens't have anything but assorted clothes and a bed. The woman/nurse, her name is Ms. Leah, she told her sister and I that she finds ALL the pills under the corner carpet. I mean, I hate to laugh, Whit is so sneaky, but everyone should know not to hide them under the carpet. That and the mattress is the most often checked. I give her credit for trying though. Lol.

So that's basically everything. Sorry it was so long, but you asked for a report.

Sorry to hear about your daughter going through hard times YorokobiAssaiki; I think I've read somewhere in my distant past that the reason most young people try, or threaten to commit suicide is due feelings of isolation. And at that age, they can feel very alienated by their parents (I know I was, and I hope my kids won't feel the same about me; but teenagers will be teenagers! I hope I can lay enough groundwork unpon which they will always feel comfortable talking to me, or my husband.) Yuck, I still have trouble confiding in my parents! Must be a common thing! I think most kids think the same of their parents; at least in the teenage years!

bkev, you've been here awhile, how do you feel about an all for one and one for all post?

Sammie- tell your friend we want her input on the board. I won't slam on someone! (except a select few who slam on me! lol! self-defense! and I havn't had to, here!) Maybe we can each post a pic (if not of ourselves, (I'll post one!), at least something dear to us and uplifting! (no heavymeatal death thingies!))

ps
YorokobiAssaiki, monsoon season is over; but I came close to your vision driving through a flooded wash with a hidden boulder in it! My husband's truck suffered much worse....$600 to repair....he should get a lift kit....Viva la lift kit! (for practical purposes!)

I completely understand everything I was just told. And I believe the thread idea you have Shotgun is awesome. I do understand that a few of you never really got to talk with her much, some not even at all, but you all are so supporting. It's nice to know she has people watching out for her, even when she doesn't know it.

I did tell her already that a few people from here were thinking of her. And she needed to realize it's not as bad as she thought. But for her to do something so dramatic is really not like her. Just that morning she went through SO much just to be kept alive, and I'm sure she doesn't remember MUCH, but I'm sure it's tramatizing. Since that's not what she wanted. I say that another 20 minutes and she would have been dead.

I pray that she snaps back to reality very soon. She's been through a lot in life, not counting this incident. She seems to have a bad luck cloud following her wherever she goes. She's been ill.. She's been depressed (whether she admits or not). I'm not going to go into huge details, but she doesn't have good luck with the guys, she's been left preg. more than once. And she tends to get in trouble for her sister's doings. It really isn't fair for her, but it's life. And she really does have a reason to be depressed.

You all are awesome. I really think that all this will settle in her had and be for the better. And I thank you all as well.

The following was a favorite of, and shown to me by, my late wife. I try to always remember it, and use it as a guide in daily life. You might want to pass it on to ECF, as I have passed it on to others when they seemed to need it.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

YorokobiAssaiki, that was beautiful! I am going to save that for myself! I am so sorry you lost your wife! I came close to losing my husband; and when the doctors told me he was going to die; I remember that feeling....

But Minagi, I don't know where you are going with your post - no offence ment! But even the most devot people of any faith can suffer from depression! You can never divorce your human condition, with all its pitfalls, from your attempts to obtain adherance to your faith! And, according to the Bible, we are all sinners (and those of us of Christian faith, we know we are; to some degree!) I've known happy hookers and theives and depressed nuns.

Religion or faith isn't the issue here....true it can help some people. (I am not a basher of faith here! I am a believer that faith can move mountains! Ooooowww trust me! I beleive in the power of prayer!) What I am saying can be related in Biblical terms - Remember Job?(or Jobe?) How the Lord tested him? Every living person can probably relate to that story. and yes, it's hard to remember whatever God you pray to when you feel cast to the winds and that no one tangible cares for you. (churches can have their own little 'clicks' that can exclude you, I know!)

We need to be the Sameritan (a pagen!) who helps the fallen traveler (a jew, in the story) physically, emotionally, and monitarally, when his own kind passed him by. But he never pushed his own faith. Here endith my sermon. Brought to you by Jesus. Backed up by Muhammed (don't buy the Shariah crap; it's not in the Koran! just cultural crap tacked on to the religion) and the Jewish Tradition! (and the Wiccans, as little as I know about them!) And Buddah as well (I read alot about that!).

Faith doesn't matter as long as you have faith in something....something to get up for every morning...and then you can work on saving souls! But you have to save lives first! :D
