09/12/2014: My previous attempt at renaming the directory to foil the spambots did not work. I'm trying now to change the login information for the SQL database. There may be a little bit of downtime but it shouldn't take long.
09/11/2014: I've been having problems with spambots preventing legit users from being able to sign up correctly. I've tried changing the directory from bbs to forums. Hopefully that will stop them and I can remove the retrictions stopping real users from signing up. Sorry if some of your bookmarks have become broken. They can be fixed by replacing bbs with forums in the properties.

Probably one of the most realistic FPS I have ever played has to be Soldner. Ive been playing soldner since demo and am still having fun with it so I decided I should review it since noone out of the hardcore FPS fans probably have heard of it. Soldner is set in 2010 where countries now rely on secret groups of Mercinaries to do there work. Soldner IS NOT a single player game it has a single played option but you would be much better off playing it online.
Unloading the Special Forces
Graphics: 5/10 Ok my big problem with Soldner has to be the graphics. The box art shows a great looking game but trust me I play on Full all the time and it doesn't look anything like the box pictures. The game is usually making tons of calculations because of the destructable terrain so the graphics are going to have to be sorta bad to make up for it or the game would run extremly slow. The textures are pretty decent but the 3d objects are just bland and really have no roundness to them. The grass in the game makes it look better but if you want be a decent soldier you better turn it off you can't see while in the prone position if its on.
You better learn to run fast
Sound: 8/10 The sound of soldner is actually quite good. You will hear the bullets whizzing over your head quite often unless you get hit then you will hear a nice flesh ripping sound followed by a UGH! Most of the rifles and theres A LOT have there own individual sound and when you have 100+ weapons thats pretty impressive. The game also has tons of voice commands from telling your team to move out to insulting your enemy which can all be heard if your in the vicinity of the speaker which adds to the realism.
Helicopters are such pests
Gameplay: 9/10 What Soldner lacks in graphics it makes up in gameplay because this game is DEEP! If you don't have any knowledge of modern weaponary and vehicles your chances of survival will be lower. Knowing which vehicles can be heat with heatseekers is actually quite usefull. Also knowing a vehicles role on the battlefield and weapon loadouts is also very important. The game includes some of the most modern weapons to date from the US army's brand new standard issue rifle the XM8 to the l85 of Britain this game has TONS of weapons to chose from the most I have ever seen in a game. Each weapon has its own stats that fit the real world counterpart such as the amount of rounds to effective range to stopping power. The game also has the correct calibur for all its weapons so if you think you can pick up your enemys AK47 and use the bullets in that to load your MP5 your wrong. Soldner also has a a custom soldier set up where you can change the looks of your soldier including his outfit, camo, accesories and symbol. Soldner's biggest feature is its destructable terrain and EVERYTHING is destructable from knocking over trees to zipping a warhead thru the frontdoor of your enemys HQ. While most games let everything be cover Soldner goes beyond that to make you feel that you should always seek stronger cover because if your enemy is sporting a RPG your done.
Hmmm Wheres my House?
Overall:8/10 Soldner would have probably have been a huge hit in the US but because of its poor launch which was way to early and the bugs it launched with it got poor reviews. The game has been patched very much since then and now plays very well infact it plays so much better some gaming sites have actually rereviewed it since it didn't get a fair deal in the beginning. Soldner is made in Germany so finding US servers and players can be a pain but theres still a pretty nice sized US community.
