Many apologies if this has been posted before, the Movie's only been released down in Australia this month. ^^; Anyway, I loved the movie. The actors and actresses did very well (Charlie's actor was so... Charlie!), in my opinion, and the whole movie was a lot more... well, it gave one the feeling that it wasn't all happy smiles and sugar. Depp did wonderfully as the eccentric-yet-creepy Willy Wonka, despite certain parallels being drawn with a Singer, and the portrayal gave more depth into the character. The movie was very amusing- for the right reasons, and there were some quirky little attentions to detail that just made it wonderful. The visuals and special effects were all to be expected from a movie produced on a very decent budget: Even the opening scene was very... epic, even though it was only the chocolate-making process. I know a lot of reviewers have complained about the music, but I found them quite catchy (Although I wouldn't go out of my way to get the soundtrack). The Oompa-Loompas looked a little out-of-place, but it was nice to see them so... different? Anyway, as one may assume, I was very pleased with this version, and I think Tim Burton did a great job. How about you readers?[/i] |

I actually got to see this movie three times, and it was still brilliant by the third showing I saw. Everything about this movie was great. |

Alright, I only saw it twice, so you beat me. But I saw it the second time rather close to where the chocolate bars for the movie were made (York)! I did enjoy this film too. Same guy who did the Simpson's Theme tune did the Music, by the way. I don't know if he does the other Simpson's songs (See my Vest, see my vest) but the way he wonderfully brought Rahl Dale's songs into current times makes me think he probably does (Made from real Gorilla chest). We got the soundtrack (See my loffers, former gophers) for my Sister, whom I was seeing it with for the second time (it was either that or skin my chauffeurs.). I would also like to own the soundtrack. The Chocolate is also nice. But it was a brilliantly done film, and Depp did a wonderful jorb(You're weird.). Strangely, I saw another Depp film while I was in York(from my Sister's DVD collection) in which not only was he another childishly eccentric character, but he stared along side the same child actor who was Charile(but he was Peter in that one), Finding Neverland. I recommend that one too. There was also some excelliant one liners/bits. "Would you like some chocolate?" "Yes please!" "Then you should of brought some." "How did your chocolate bar taste?" "I don't know, I can't stand the stuff." "Then it's a Good thing you're going to a Chocolate Factory, you ungratful little-" <covering of ears for the next five or so minutes of silent classicness> Good to see there are still some Children films that are actually worth watching... Not to be a grumpy old man of 21, but don't we actually have a reviews section for this kind of thing now? |

I can remember when I saw it a few weeks ago, and enjoyed it a lot more than the older one... considering how many times the teachers made us watch it in preschool. But, the eyes of the real fat kid..what's his name?.. just creeped me out a little. That and the squirrels were cool. |

Yeah, Augustus's eyes were a little too contact-obvious, now that I think about it. @_@ |
