Iron Golems...

It is the Dawn of An Intrustial Age. But not our one, it takes place on a World far away from ours. Steam is used to power almost everything, like it was in ours. From Steam Engines, to the Iron Golems. Yes, The Iron Golems, great hulking machines piloted by a man inside, used for industrial work, and military conquest, named after the magical beings of clay once regularly controlled by man. Magic. Once this filled that lands, but now it merely lingers. Some still use it, and some even try to power their machines with it, but it is growing weaker. There is still a very clear divide between the rich and the poor, but the rich disguise it well, for now, fooling the poor into thinking they are building Their Future, when only the Rich man who pull the strings will truely profit. It is a time of change, with Kingdoms becoming republics, or being crushed by other more powerful countries. There is much termoil... But even in this World, there is still much to discover, much to explore, and much to protect and fight for. This World is filled with Adventurers, Wizards, Mercenaries. The Lands still have monsters that roam the ground outside city walls. It still has temples untouched by man for thousands of years, and maybe even never were touched by man before. So will you enter this land? Will you quest for what is right? For Shadows lerk in the darkness, and their true motives are not apparent... We see a darkened room, with a grand table in the middle, round which people sit. Man1: So Gentlemen, have you considered my Offer? Man2: You ask a great deal, Dijin, and we are still uncertain about this... Dijin: Come now Dolkoph, you did not complain when we were invading your neighbouring Country of Porih. Man3: Yes, but if we move too much too fast, people will notice and join up! Dijin: like we have? Come now Gentlemen, could there be a more powerful Union of Peoples than our one here? <there is much mumbling. A Large man at the end of the table rises up> Man4: But you forget, we are the "heros", if we do such... evil acts, people will believe we are Evil, and we don't want them getting the wrong idea, do we, Mr Dijin? However, if you believe this item to be so important, there are other ways of obtaining it rather than "invasion". Isn't that right Mr Teatime? <A man, who appears to have been taking no interest in the proceedings of the meetings turns towards them all> Teatime: Yes, there are many... methods... but if you wish to use a more silent method, they it may cost... a fair bit... Man4: Then it is decided. I thank you gentleman... Rules...sorta:: Now basically here's the idea of how it works. For now I'll play the villains, till we have a main group of heros set up. The people we have just seen are plotting something big, and as our heros will discover, Must be stopped! They are going to try to steal something out of a museum in your home town (someone else name it...) but of course you don't know this. You know nothing about these people. But you witness the robbery, and stuff, and set off on a quest... You can be various things... An Adventurer A Wizard A Mercenary An Engineer Even things like farmers and stuff. But nothing really over the top, like Ninjas... Ninjas in an Industrial Revolution? Oh please.... When you add your character, give them a detailed bio. When you make a move you can do whatever you want, but remember, you lot are only normal people.... for most part. I'll be trying to direct the story at first, but hopefully I'll stop doing that pretty quickly to give you lot more freedom. but be warned, I might make strange things happen at times, if I'm allowed... Like say a bad guy is overpowering you all, and is about to win, or something, then I might make a Strange glow appear, and everyone disappear, for some... mysterious reason.... But I'll try to keep this down to a minium... Well I hope this works out, please people feel free to start more... I have Returned from the Darkness and I am now RED Kagato TEG! Sounds good to me, heres a profile for my character and my first post: <hr /> Name: Linden Ryuujin Age: 16 History: Linden drifted into town about a year ago from a distant land, his cloths bare this out as does his strange accent. He is generally assumed by most people to have run way from an apprenticeship to a scholar, for he knows a lot of history. However if this is true or not is by no means certain as no one really knows him. He isnÂ’t very open and keeps mostly to himself. He does seem to have considerable skill with his strange sword, a long curved blade (a katana). Personality:Linden is a quiet person who dislikes attention. He hates violence and will always try to find a way to avoid it. Appearance: Linden is fairly tall with long dark hair and deep red eyes. He looks like a fairly young man of about 16, but something in him speaks of age and wisdom. <hr /> Linden made his way from the outskirts of town along a grimy path. The light was dingy and had a second hand quality even though it was midday; this was mainly due to smoke poring from many tall chimneys, powering the machine that kept the town operating. As he walked he passed several people and while he smiled in greeting he never stoped to talk. He was heading for the museum, one the few buildings in the town not covered in soot. Ok a character. Sorry i came in late but I am already trying to get into an rp at GR's board. Let's see if I can hold two. Name:N/A He can't remember the hospital gave him the name John Doe. So call him John. Age:N/A Looks to be about 19 yrs old but he doesn't know for sure. Height:5'5" Eyes:Green Hair:Brown Powers: Unknown Bio: John had had an accident of some sort two weeks ago. It gave him amniesa. He can't remember anything about himself before the incident. He stayed at the hospital where he learned that it was due to a tramatic event. John can remember every other fact except for about himself or what if any powers he had. KTEG he was and when he gains back his memory will be a wizard. Throughout the story he will be gaining powers and memories back. My first rp: ------------------------------------------------------------ The man breathed a sigh of relif. He had escaped the hospital after many days there. He had amniesa and couldn't remember anyting about himself. He had gotten out by make sheets into ropes and climbing out the window. He had stolen some clothes hanging on the line and madme his way to the museum. John: No one these days tries to remember the past. There should hardly be anyone their so it will be a good place to hide. John follows the signs to a huge grand looking building that must have once been a mansion at the edge of town. The town had grown and engulfted it years ago but it was still clean compared to its neighboring buildings. The man we know as Teatime enters the museum by the front enterance. And then hangs by a Skelloten of some ancient beast. He looks regularly at his pocket watch. He looks at the beast, as though wishing it to come back to life. (Ummm, just a suggestion, but a more oridinary character might be nice... Like a young engineer or something... Name: Kip Sopp Age: 15 Height: 5'11" Hair: Brown Eyes: Green Powers: Has a way with machinery and knows the art of street fighting. History: Kip was abandoned when he was 4 for unknown reasons and was found by an elderly mechanic. The elderly mechanic passed away when Kip was only 7 year old and Kip had to live on the streets, earning money by fixing all types of machines, which he was taught to do by the mechanic. Kip went from town to town looking for work until he found a great city that floats on the water and what constantly need machines to power and help it float. Even though the was a huge amount of work in the fair city the were also a lot of problems. Street fighting had made its way here and anyone who didn't have a place to go would always be hassled and all the money, however little they had would always be taken away. Luckily for Kip there was a kind family who owned a Dojo who found him one night all beat up in the road gutter, the family took him home and when he regained consciousness said that he could stay with them until he could get his own place or leave, but he would have to pay rent, by this time Kip was only 9 year old. The dojo master trained Kip on a night after he came home so he could protect himself. Kip got quite good at fighting and was entered into a Junior street fighters tournament when he was 11, which he won. Linden Ryuujin went round the museum till he came to the Death Stone. It was a piece of rock incased within a box of lead. It was believed to be from cursed lands, as people in the vincity of the rock, without the lead casing, were said to have mysteriously died. Strangely, something as dull as lead was able to stop this evil magic. That is what confused Linden. There are legends telling of how even the greatest of warriors died from just being around this stone, and more recently reports of when someone had had the bright idea of displaying it outside the casing. Many had grown ill, and most of those people had gone on to die. That sounded like some very powerful magic. Linden stared at the lead walls, expecting some sort of incantations to appear. "Ah, afternoon Master Linden. Glazing at the Deathstone again?" Linden gave a little jump, then turned to the old curator, smiling. "Hello Proffessor Curie, is the Deathstone back within the casing, or are you still looking at it in your office?" "Oh, it is there. Don't like to keep it out too long, as although I believe my lab equipment suffiently reproduces the effect of the casing you see before you, I still feel it is better to keep it in the original box, which is tried and tested." "Strange such powerful magic can be stopped by such a dull lead box..." "Ahh, but it isn't magic. I believe that the stone "emits" very small "particles", which can have adverse effects on living things..." "You mean, it is emitting some sort of poison?" "In a way, yes, but unlike most poisons where you need to intake the poison, this one just goes through your body, somehow, and since it is so small, I believe it actually effects more what you are actually made of rather than producing a chemical reaction of sorts. But most of what I say is speculation, though I am sure it is emitting some kind of particle..." "How come no one else ever saw this?" "Well they just happen to be really small, which is why I think they can effect the very essence of your body." "How did you discover them?" "Using Various extremely sensitive chemicals, my lad... And the effects I get are more like something being thrown, in some way. Another thing I know, is that they are moving Very fast... Come would you like to see my findings so far in my office?" "I would love to!" They went to Proffessor Curie's office, which was close to the main enterance to the building. There Curie started to excitedly show Linden his results. Teatime watches them enter the office. Inside Proffessor Curie's office there was a desk cluttered with equipment, and papers coved with his rather scrawled writing. It was piece of this paper than Curie was showing Linden. As Curie explained the significance of the results Linden smiled, he liked Curie who was the only person he had really got to know since his arrival nearly a year ago, and he always seemed most alive when research some new artefact. While Linden had been talking to the Proffessor, someone had been hidden near the Death Stone. John decided it was best to stay hidden, even after they had gone. Then he heard a quiet, but unusual, noise. He looked up above the Death Stone to see five men dressed in black lowering from the ceiling. "What the heck?" (I hope you don't mind this placing, 10LHW, but it is a rather perfect position to be hiding, and the perfect place to be to further the plot.) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Now to explain joining in a bit more... People can join at any time really. There are several ways you can join the RPG. You can be a main hero character, as they always come in at random into RPGs, for the most random reasons... <a href="http://www.adventurers-comic.com/d/0023.html" target="top">Example.</a> You can also be a baddie. OF which there are two types. There are those working with the main villains. If you want to be one of those, contact me, and I'll have one of the bosses send you in. ((I don't even know if this thread is still going but if it is...)) Name: Amaya Jeyora Age: 17 Height: 5'6 or so... Eyes: Lavender (strange, I know...) Hair: Black and very long, tied in a ponytail Powers: Good with a sword and other sharp pointy objects Bio: Amaya is usually alone. She was orphaned at a young age, and doesn't remember much from that time. She's been by herself for 12 or 13 years. She does odd jobs to earn cash, and has done pretty well for herself, although she never lived in one place. She normally goes wherever she feels like going, and somehow ends up in the worst situations. She can be pretty moody, but is a pretty good fighter and never backs down. Amaya was walking down the next hall when she noticed dark men coming from a celing. She quickly pressed herself against the wall.
