AUTUMN OF LIFE:

I love Tenchi Universe but I always wondered about Ryoko's fate between her leaving Tenchi on Jurai and her return to the Earth. This story is the "missing episode" of how she survived Kagato's assault, and Tenchi's decision making on Jurai when he realises that being a King is really more than he's cut out for. (Tenchi Universe Continuity).

The "Dark Heart" Continuity.

This began as simply me meshing together OVA ideas into the TU base to prove to myself (and anyone else who cared) that most OVA themes transfer quite comfortably into TU without warping characters too much. It kind of spiralled from there into a several story sequence, with characters coming in from various continuities to add to the storyline at various junctures. So far the stories are as follows:

DARK HEART
-Three years after Tenchi Forever, Ryoko is languishing in a GXP jail cell and Ayeka is engaged to be married to Lord Takeru Imada, one of Jurai's illustrious noble sons. But when a dangerous space criminal seems to return from the dead, the peace is shattered. Kiyone realises she needs Ryoko's help to track down the evil pirate Haki, while Ayeka is kidnapped and Sasami heads to the Earth, desperate to find Tenchi and bring him to her sister's aid. Haki seeks the "Dark Heart" of Jurai, legendary gemstones said to come from the planet's blessed core, and which possess elements of Tsunami's sacred magic. But the gemstones have a darker secret, that may prove fatal for one of Tenchi's coterie...

THE DYING TREE
-Since their adventures aboard Yagami, Sasami has been having strange dreams about an old dead tree as, awoken inside her, the Goddess's spirit calls out to her young 'sister' for help. As the clues grow darker, Sasami realises that though exiled, Kagato's tree-ship still lives, and even worse, his spirit seems to have taken residence inside it. The future of Jurai hangs in the balance, and Washu must make a serious decision regarding secrets she's kept hidden for over seven hundred years.

Meanwhile, Ryoko has been turning up secrets about her past, and as the trail grows more and more convoluted, she starts to wonder if she really wants to know the answers. Then Tsunami sends out her last hope, flinging a young soul back to the present to try and help put an end to the ominous signs that surround Jurai.

But even if Washu's long-lost plans come to fruition, Kagato's spirit looks set to destroy Jurai and everything else along with it...

HAWK OF JURAI
-Since the events at Souja's tree, news has spread far and wide about the Prince who possesses the magic of a Goddess. Drawn from her secret chamber by the rumours, a powerful force has her sights set on Tenchi, determined that at long last she will have her revenge on Tsunami for the death and destruction of her planet. Tokimi is a Priestess on the rampage, and with the help of Dr Clay and his soulless droid Zero, she infiltrates Tenchi's happy Earth home, determined to take and then destroy the one she sees as Tsunami's human form.

Meanwhile, after a family-destroying crime is witnessed, Seiryo Tennan finds that he has no choice but to succumb to Tokimi's persuasive offers of power and protection. But Washu knows far more about Tokimi than anyone realises, and when something terrible befalls Kiyone, she knows that something must be done to stop the Priestess's terrible schemes.

But there is only one way to stop Tokimi...and for Washu, it may be a question of her life versus that of one she once called...sister.

THE DEAD SEA
-There are some in the universe that claim a leopard can't change it's spots. Once ordained a space pirate, then a space pirate you are for all eternity. Your blood is your bond, and through that bond the life of freedom outside the law can never fully leave you behind.

In the depths of space, darkness seems to overcome even the most ingrained of bonds. But when Ryo Ohki is drawn into dangerous territory on a return trip from Planet Jurai to the Earth, little do any of her crew imagine what is lurking out there in the bleak. For Ryoko, it's just another trip through chartered territory, and, as pirate ships loom on the horizon, she takes a short cut through the dangerous, cluttered area known as the Sargasso Sea - the ship's graveyard which is said to hold the souls of the space dead as well as the rusting remains of their crafts.

Caught up in a vicious battle of ships across this cold terrain, Ryoko finds herself for once on the wrong end of the fight, as the pirates, resentful of her turn-tail attitude seek to hunt down the one who betrayed their kind. As the smoke clears, Ryoko struggles to come to terms with what has happened, even as she finds herself pulled once more into the world of brigands and cuthroats as she seeks both answers and a final, bitter revenge.

But even her newest ally has secrets, and things are not always what they seem...

DEMON'S EXILE

-Now that she understands the nature of her magic, Washu is determined that she will bring her younger sister out of her deep stupor, convinced that Tokimi no longer poses the universe a threat. With the help of the Tennan family, Washu hopes that even though Kihaku is long dead, Tokimi might yet have a chance at a safe and happy life. Despite the unrest towards her at Jurai's court, and his own uncertain record, Seiryo resolves to protect the former Priestess, knowing that his decision to do so may yet pit him once more against Emperor and Council. Surely the nightmare of Tokimi's reign of terror is well and truly over?

But Washu and Tsunami's final trip to Kihaku has had a much greater impact than anyone has realised, and as a ghost from Ayeka's long forgotten past rears her ugly head, strange things begin to happen on the planet Jurai. Thrust into the middle of the chaos is a resentful Kiyone, discharged from the Galaxy Police after a vandalism attack on Yagami that seems to point her way. But Kiyone is determined to clear her own name and discover who is behind the random assault on her ship. Could the mysterious vessel she and Mihoshi were sent to salvage have something to do with it? What is the sinister force that is sweeping through space, stealing lives wherever it goes? What will it do, when it finally reaches planet Jurai?

And can Tenchi find the courage to tell the Crown Princess the decision he has made?

KINDRED
-After the death of Dr Clay and the final defeat of Tokimi, it seems that the dark influence of Kihaku over the universe has finally been laid to rest. But, when Ryoko disappears suddenly after a fight with Washu, it soon becomes apparent that more than just the pirate's petulant temper is keeping her away. Clay may be dead, but his secret lab is far from empty, as a lone figure shoots through the universe, hungry for answers and revenge.

Z is a man with a mission, and he knows his time is running out. With Ryoko in his power, he knows that luring Washu into his trap should be a piece of cake. When Ryoko realises his story, she finds herself torn. Who will she choose, in the end - the scientist who gave her life, or the man who seeks to avenge all those created against their will?

And even if she can prevent her mother's murder, can Ryoko prevent Z's powerful magic from destroying millions of innocent lives?

And also

TAINTED SPIRIT (Still in progress - or at least, part one is up and completed, part two is on its way, part three coming soon).
-Ten years ago, a Lord's wife was sealed up in a tower on the furthest edge of Shinoshi, central city of the planet Yousai. Three days after her imprisonment, her husband died, cursed to death by black magic beyond his companion's control.

Now, ten years later, his only daughter Misao is thirteen and old enough to be crowned Lady of Yousai in her own right. In preparation, Yousai's governing Council of Representatives call Princess Sasami and her entourage to bless their shrines, hoping that her cleansing presence will help to clear their world of their recent, troubled past.

But though she is sealed away, Lady Ramia is far from subdued. From deep within her prison she has long plotted her release, and with the help of a serving boy and a resurrected Space Pirate, she seeks to destroy the seal placed on her prison once and for all. When Misao is kidnapped and then Sasami falls ill, it becomes clear that something sinister is in progress.

But then Jurai's life force begins to sicken and die, and with it the members of the Royal House. As Tenchi and his companions hurry to find out what's going on, Tsunami's spirit is under siege...

Additional to the Dark Heart meanderings, there is AFTER THE RAIN, which connects into that timeline/continuity, but is set back in the past, and is designed to be Washu's prequel for the Tenchi Universe series, based on my other amendments/assertions/whatever. It's still under construction, but it chronicles the events that are mentioned in Dark Heart and that led up to the creation of Ryoko and the involvement with Jurai's gems.

Yeeps I write way too much :S I was only ever going to write one Tenchi story when I began this last August, but it kinda spiralled out of control...

My stories are on a TU foundation. This means that although other characters and themes are brought in and amended, ones which belong to the TU continuity have been kept as true to themselves as possible.

Since TU's continuity is basically a TxR continuation, so is my writing. That doesn't mean I like to hate on Ayeka or anyone, though!
