| Post subject: | Doctor Washu |
Inspired by Vrarie's masterpiece, I've started writing a new fanfic. The introduction is a bit 'post-modern' but it's purely for a warm up act but anyway this is the first chapter. Doctor Washu & the Daleks This is a story set in the Tenchi OVA canon and the Dalek Empire canon. [The Tenchi OVA canon is the universe without Kiyone (Mihoshi’s partner) but with Tsunami. The Dalek Empire canon is the universe without Davros but with the Dalek Supreme.] “It’s Professor Washu” said Washu as she leaped out from behind the narrator’s desk. “Yes, I know, it’s for ironic effect” replied the Narrator. “It’s not very ironic” said Washu. “Would you shut up and go away, this introduction is really hampering the start of the story never mind the reader’s opinions on the state of my mental health.” “Well…” ***** “Hey don’t do that!” “Do what?” “The five asterisk thing, it’s not very original or professional I might add.” “I don’t care, I’m going to start the story now if you‘d care to stop interfering”. ***** It was the morning on a very clear spring day, there was slight breeze from the North. The lake shone in the sun’s omnipresent glow… “This is because there was a 1018 millibar area of high pressure in the South, Japan often experiences warmer spring than the rest of the world-region because at this time of year anti-cyclones head north from the southern hemisphere. The lake glow is caused by the metal that make up the interior hulls of Jurai ships that can remain in ecosystems for centuries.” interrupted Washu. “I need a drink” Chapter I: High pressures and low lives Princess Ayeka had a problem, well she had quite a few problems, but the problem that was concerning her the most at the moment was trying reattach a new washing line to the pole. Funny enough, rope tying was not part of Jurai ‘Finishing School’ so she felt happy in using another washing line rope as an anchor which she would wrap completely around the pole and original line. Just as she began to finish off the poor attempt of a knot Ryoko teleported onto the washing line and the whole line slid out of the princesses hands destroying her knot and causing really nasty rope burn. “Ryoko!” Ayeka exclaimed. “Hey Princess have you see Tenchi?” asked Ryoko, who floated where the line should have been. Ayeka looked at her hands, “Even if I did why should I tell you?” “Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning!” said Ryoko before she disappeared. “Grr…” ***** Ryoko teleported to the vegetable patch and looked around. Ryo-ohki was there trying to build an inconspicuous borrow in the roots of the hedgerows. “Ryo-ohki, is Tenchi around here somewhere?” “Meow meow” replied Ryo-ohki. “So it’s like that is it?” “Meow meow… meow…meow meow….moew” “I see” “Meow meow meow…meow” “WASHU!!!” ***** “Oh…I see… that’s where it goes” said Mihoshi just realising that the phone could fit back inside the hook. At that moment Ryoko flew through the front door with sufficient force to knock over Mihoshi and rearrange the furniture of entrance hall. “Washu!” screamed Ryoko again as she came to a full stop ready to turn the handle the door of Washu’s laboratory. Instead of opening the door, which is the par operatum of a door handle, the handle gave Ryoko a nasty photoelectric shock. “Arghhh” yelled Ryoko as she surveyed her smouldering hand. “Washu…Washu…Washu!” yelled Ryoko with increasing angst as she began hammering her fists against the door. “Hey Ryoko, do you need to see Washu?” asked Mihoshi. “Mihoshi” Ryoko turned around and placed her hands on Mihoshi’s shoulders. “You can get into Washu’s lab easily can’t you?”. “You want to get into Washu’s lab?” “Yes” said Ryoko with a smile, “Can you open the door for me?” “Sure can!” Mihoshi turned the handle and the door opened. Ryoko accelerated herself only to collide at some force with another door, an exact replica of the outside door. Ryoko without thinking, or possibly still suffering from concussion, without much thought anyway, tried the handle only to be given another photoelectric shock. “Damn it Washu!” cried Ryoko. “Hey, there is another door there!” exclaimed Mihoshi. “I know!” Ryoko overbearingly shouted at Mihoshi. “Now now Ryoko, there is no need to shout!” “Yes there is” cried Ryoko, starting to become distressed. “You don’t know Washu like I do, she can do unspeakable things, she could be hurting Tenchi in there right now, causing him pain and there is nothing I can do about it.”. Ryoko slid to the floor while repeatedly banging against the door. “Oh I see” replied Mihoshi. The two held there positions for several seconds deep in contemplation as to what they would do next. Ayeka walked in through the front door, she removed her shoes, the signs of whiplash caused by putting up the washing line was visible on her arms. She causally stepped over Ryoko when she passed them both in the hallway. “Ayeka” Ryoko yelled as she flew up off the ground. “What is it now Ryoko?” replied Ayeka “Can you go and get Washu for me please?” asked Ryoko. “Since it’s you Ryoko, absolutely not”. “But she’s got Tenchi and she could be torturing him right now!” “Ryoko, do you really expect me to believe you after the phone call prank during dinner last night and that pitfall trap last week?” “Hey, I was only acting in revenge” “That’s not an excuse Ryoko, fortunately for her I trust Washu more than I do you” “After all we’ve been though, you still don’t trust me?” “No” said Ayeka as she walked away. “Hey Ayeka” screamed Mihoshi. Ayeka popped her head around the door frame. “Can you put the kettle on the hob for me?” asked Mihoshi. “Fine, but remember to take it off this time, Susami is still mopping up shards of metal after last time”. “Oh Okay!” “Mihoshi” “Yes Ryoko” “Open the door” “But Washu will have another door, then another door and another door and then…” “Just open the door!” Ryoko screamed. “Okay okay” Mihoshi, she turned the knob and there inside lay the darkness of Washu’s lab. “You can fool one of us Washu, but not us all!” cried Ryoko as she flew into the lab. She teleported her way through the diagonal chamber to get a better view of her surroundings. “Where are you Washu” said Ryoko to herself, “Ha…there you are…leave Tenchi alone” She flew down like a Stuka on fire, a centimetre away, Washu side stepped and Ryoko slammed face first into the metallic floor. “Your good Ryoko, but not good enough” “Washu, I am sick of your experiments on Tenchi, you will let him go right now!” said Ryoko climbing out her crater suffering from further concussion. “I’m over here Ryoko” said Washu standing behind her. “Where is Tenchi?” “Tenchi…I almost completely forgot” “Yeah right” “Don’t be cheeky Ryoko” said Washu walking away, Ryoko flew up to catch up to go alongside. “It’s a good thing you found me first Ryoko, I put a few surprises around Tenchi so wouldn’t interrupt my experiments.” “There there Tenchi” said Mihoshi as Ryoko and Washu turned the corner. Mihoshi was lifting Tenchi down from the ‘Iron maiden’ type contraption that was holding him against the wall. “What?” screamed Washu, “how did you get him out of that?” “Well I just sort of touched it” replied Mihoshi. “My machine, it took me all day yesterday building that!” cried Washu. “Oh sorry” replied Mihoshi. “I will help you rebuild it if you want me to” “No, please don‘t” cried Washu. “That’s it” shouted Ryoko, “I have had enough of this laboratory”. Ryoko flew up firing blasts from her hands hitting the glass enclaves and the machinery. After a few seconds the electric bolt came behind her zapped her onto the ground. “You really shouldn’t have done that” exclaimed Washu. Ryoko coughed up a speech bubble in her charred state. “Hey Washu” cried Mihoshi further away than before, “which one of these is the snack machine?” “None of them are! No Mihoshi don’t press that button” “Oh!” said Mihoshi after she pressed the button. “What happened?” cried Washu as she grappled with Mihoshi’s finger. “This screen came up saying please don’t press this button again” “Phew” said Washu in relief. “That is the self destruct panel, don’t ever touch it” “Why do you have a self-destruct button?” asked Tenchi as he approached them. “It seems pretty stupid to have that lying around”. “It’s here because if some force breaks into the lab I don’t want them getting their hands on all this technology lying around”. “Wait a minute, are you saying there is a bomb inside my house?” “No Tenchi, the lab is powered by a particle accelerator which if I were to press the right sequence on the panel would force the accelerator to speed the particles faster than the speed of tachyons which would, after a few minutes, explode the lab into tiny quark-sized bits. I called it Plan Washuminator.” “It will blow my house into bits” “Tenchi, the explosion will be contained inside subspace, it can’t spread to your house…however it’s more than likely the power they will use in order to get into the lab will probably destroy the planet.” “Couldn’t they just turn the knob on the door?” asked Tenchi. Washu paused for a quite moment contemplation before coming up with, “You can stop them before they could do that, couldn’t you Tenchi?” “Sure” replied Tenchi enduringly. “Washu” called Mihoshi. “What is it now?” “Can you let go of my finger now?” As that was said, a Ryoko shaped blur jumped Tenchi and the two of them flew into the darkness. “I really hope she doesn’t do something she’s not supposed to” commented Washu, “now are you going to tell me how you keep on getting past my defences?” “Well I just sort of do” “That’s not a very good scientific reason” said Washu maliciously. ***** “Ryoko” cried Tenchi. “Just a minute Tenchi, nearly there, freedom is within my sights” she said before she slammed into the lab door face first. “You really ought to slow down you know” said Tenchi as he picked himself up relatively unscratched from the impact. Tenchi turned the knob of the door and there lay the hall to the porch and the kitchen. “But, but…I saved you” she muttered lying on the floor, as she saw the door begin to close she darted forward so she didn’t get trapped inside. As she stood in the hall alone, she could hear a low pitched whistling sound from the kitchen. As she approached the door frame, the kitchen exploded and a shard of metal came flying towards her and hit her in the head knocking her backwards onto the floor. “I’m not having a good day” Ryoko commented as dust began to settle on top of her. ***** Tenchi entered the sitting room where Ayeka was stretched out across a sofa. “Working hard miss Ayeka” “Ahh” Ayeka screamed as she quickly sat up, “I was just resting for a few minutes”. “Whoa…What is that?” asked Tenchi pointing out of the window. Ayeka stood up to get a better look out of the conservatory windows that formed the wall. There was beam of different coloured light stretching from a point in the sky to the forest canopy between the hills. “That is a chromatic signal” said Ayeka, “someone is sending a message to Funaho” “Who could it be?” “I don’t know, but it could be important, Tenchi go and get your sword”. “Right” said Tenchi as he ran upstairs into his room where Susami was there standing over his drawers. “Hello…Susami” said Tenchi eerily. “Oh hi Tenchi, I’m just putting your laundry away” “Oh…good, I don’t suppose you have seen my sword on your travels” “It’s in the bottom drawer of your bedside cabinet” “Oh god, I thought I lost it” said Tenchi diving for the drawing and pulling it out, turning upside down and grabbing the light sword from the pile of stuff that came out with it. “It’s been there the entire time” “It probably has” “What are you like Tenchi?” “One day I’ll know Susami” he said sliding his door and running back down the stairs. Susami looked at the pile in despair. |
