"Erk! Baseball season just started on this planet and I'm sick of it already!" Airi fumed and dodged yet another reaching swing. As she did so, her foot landed on a metal plate of some kind, well that's what she thought it was by the dull "clunk" sound that it had made. She looked down and saw that she was standing on a manhole cover. "Hmm, this gives me an idea ..." Reaching down, Airi lifted up the cover and jumped down inside. An instant later she was standing knee-deep in Innsmouth sewage. "I can't smell anything in this suit, but I'm sure Louisville Slugger up there wouldn't be too fond of the stench, so it should be safer down here." She concluded and started to follow the flow of sewage downstream. As she walked along, Airi saw in various places that pipes emptied their putrid contents into the main sewer tunnel that she was following. At about the point Airi thought that she was under the refinery, she started calling up the various pipes ... "Sasami! Sasami! Can you hear me?" At the third pipe she came to, a tiny whimper responded so Airi continued "Sasami! If you can hear me, push the flush lever!" About three seconds later a slough of sewage came cascading out of the pipe followed by a lifeless Sasami. Airi caught her as Sasami fell out, unconscious in her arms. "Oh my, you look awful Sasami! But don't worry, I'll get you out of here!" she said and then continued wading downstream in the tunnel. "A fish once told me that all drains lead to the ocean." |

Tokimi ground her teeth as she sped away from Shonen Bat. Things had rapidly gone downhill since she had arrived in this town. First D3 had inexplicably been transformed into a portable console gaming system, then her powers had just had inexplicably gone on the fritz, and now she was being hunted down by a crazy young boy with a gold bat who apparently wanted to smash the brains out of her and her companions, and there was nothing she could do about it. First the Shoggoth, and now-- Tokimi blinked and then smacked herself on the head! The Shoggoth! Of course! . . .Well, on second thought maybe it wasn't the most reliable plan in the world, but Tokimi was too angry to let her better judgment intervene. Breaking off from the group, she buzzed in a circle around Shonen Bat, just put of his range with the bat, hoping that she had captured his attention. Then, D3 ibn tow, she sped towards the town square as fast as her legless body could take her. "Lady Tokimi, I'm not sure this is a wise idea," D3 cautioned from just behind her. "Well sure, maybe it's gambling a little, but it's brilliant! The Shoggoth is a creature of chaos, meaning it can't try to destroy good every single time it acts, becaue that would be evil, and evil is only another kind of order. Now all the other things it's done have been bad for us, meaning we're due for some luck here." "I wouldn't say everything, I liked it when it melted off Ryoko's clothes . . . " Sighing, Tokimi shot around to the main body of the Shoggoth, hoping fervently that Shonen Bat was still following her. As she passed it, she yelled in its ear (or at least, what she thought was its ear) "Hey Shoggoth! Go beserk and attack everything indisciminately!" The Shoggoth, for the moment docile as it had forgotten Kagato's prior accidental command, slowly started to become more active. As one of it tentacles smashed a building as it stretched, Tokimi gulped from her place behind the Shoggoth, painfully aware of her vulnerabilities now that she was in her chibi form. "Uh. Maybe this wasn't the best idea in the world." |

Sure enough, after about another half hour of walking and carrying Sasami, Airi arrived at the end of the tunnel where the sewer line continually discharged its raw contents into the sea. "Okay Sasami, we're out of there, you can wake up now!" She said to Sasami emphatically although the mask of the suit muffled Airi's voice slightly. However, Sasami continued to lay limp in Airi's arms and did not respond. This caused Airi to frown with concern. "It seems that you've been through quite an ordeal Sasami. Let's go and get you all cleaned up from this. If I remember right, I saw an inn in town earlier before the bat kid showed up. I think that they'll let us stay for the night, hehe ..." Airi concluded and then started to walk back into town carrying Sasami. ((OOC: I know that a new thread is going, but I just wanted to tie things together before killing this one off.)) |
