Sounds to me like she wants the 'title' of dating without doing the work.

Either that...or maybe it's a day to day thing. Maybe one day she enjoys dating, and the next she wants to be single. If that's the case, the title of 'needy' is used as an excuse to remove possible blame from her to you.

I'm not claiming that's what she's doing...but it very well could be possible.

I know she likes me, but she feels the need to be single. Don't know exactly why though.

Right now, we're both facing extreme bouts of depression, where I eat once every couple days (usually only a bite or so) and sleep about 4 hours a night.

She wants to spend all her time with her sister, who lives with her(the sister) husband.

Weird place now, but tomorrow we'll see what's going on.

Odd how we both are the same way, probably for very different reasons.

Your mind can really mess with your appetite. When I first developed anxiety, I felt so sick I felt like a couldn't eat anything. Now I'm thirty pounds lighter.

That's why you have to make sure you eat something. It's dangerous for your health to lose fact.

I find certain foods are easier on you stomach. Crackers are great.

Yeah, only about a week and only took in 400 calories and I lost fat. Not good considering my body.

Haven't been to the gym since a week ago today, but not eating either... So I wonder what my body fat is at.

Either way, spent 7 hours yesterday in bed staring at a window texting her every time she got to me, the most we've talked since Tuesday, all while meditating.

Inner peace was found enough to eat one meal, a big step!

Well, the first 5 years of dating for me was pretty much the sluts of the school due to the big mouth of one of my first girlfriends. Aside from that, I just tend to get emotionally unstable ones, and not by choice.

Having a girlfriend is great when you care deeply for one another, sucks when one cares more than the other.

Soooo. No rush guys, seriously, not worth it if they end up like most of mine.

Current girlfriend is actually the best so far, and I wouldn't change a thing.

And my most prominent knickname is Grandpa, mostly because of my inherent wisdom (friends thought I passed out stoned one night, so I overheard them agree I was the smartest person they know... Not bragging, but, story for a different day) my early pubescence (fully matured by 12) chronic 'old man' issues (hips, back) and my love of war stories. Many other reasons, but there you have it.

Up and down, up and down, up and down, relationships feel like bungee jumping? If it does, than after 17 years of marriage, I can tell you that's normal.

Relationships do not converge on a "happy place" and stay there in some kind of steady state. What determines if a relationship will last is how well you survive the ups and down. From reading the thread it seems like you two have been through a few already and are still together which seems hopeful to me. So take your time and see how things go ... don't go running to the jewelry store or the lawyer just yet.

The eating disorder seems like a greater concern to me, hopefully you are seeing a doc about that?

Well, I'm everything but certified in anything that deals with the gym and dieting. I know not eating is destroying my metabolism, and I've already lost noticeable weight according to my girlfriend, but that's kind of a moot point. I'm of generally sound mind and strict discipline with my body. Just... unstable right now.

And the ups and downs are all on her, I keep all that stuff to myself but every chance she gets she seems like she's going to run away. Complete flight-risk. I told her that if she still wants to be single by time school starts again then I won't pose anymore well laid arguments.

Hard to explain, I can't let her go like the others, anytime a girl seemed even the slightest bit disinterested I'd have no problem saying "It's ok, it just isn't working out". But with her it feels like I'm fighting her paranoia with evidence of affection she gives me nearly everyday.

Nothing much to update about, I'm just getting those 'episodes' more often. Maybe I should see a doc about those. Can't control my behavior for hours and sometimes days. The paranoia makes me say stupid things... I've checked books and psych major friends and they mostly agree it's a "paranoid personality disorder".

Oddly enough, the one person that makes it worse, makes it ten times better.
