This is yet another ZL, "State of the Board" type post. I've been known to make a few of these...from time to time...with varying "success" and sometimes disastrous consequences...

Anyway...

Well...what should we do?

Our membership is small...

Tenchi is somewhat reviving (yay!)...

Some parts of the board should be reorganized or condensed to facilitate discussion...

We need more active moderators...

We need more affiliates...

Suggestions:

1) The anime "spotlights" should all be condensed into a "General Anime" forum. Unfortunately, we don't have sub-forum capability (otherwise we could keep the spotlight sections while still condensing) but I don't think we lose much, considering the infrequent posting within those sections. One "General Anime" forum in the "All" section would vastly condense the board and make things more tidy.

2) The "all" section itself should be reorganized: for example, post your site should NOT be above other forums in that section.

3) Some mods (DBD, Neo, CY) are not active enough. I think some new blood is needed. Perhaps someone like AstroNerdBoy or MJHennessey (or both) would make better choices for mods at this time. We need mods who are at least here sometimes and who might be able to grow the board.

4) We do need to boost our affiliates at least a little. 3 is far too small a number (admittedly we had to dump a few, but those were either dead or considered us dead).

5) We have a "chatlog" section...without a chat! Anyone else see the irony in this?

That's about all I have for now. I'm sure others have feedback to add.

If we need more affiliates, I don't think Tenchi Muyo:Another Universe ([url]tmau.fateback.com[/url])has a board. Maybe we can exchange banners. And is the RFFC (Ryoko forever fan club) still active? They may want a banner. As for getting more members, PTBC has been talking about a flash ad for this board to put on newgrounds, UGO's flash player, etc. I don't know how his flash skills are coming, but it sounds promising. As for mods, well, i'm here almost everyday...

Midnight Lagoon would be a good affiliate; it's small too, but the traffic from here to there and vice versa would be good.

Plenty of others, if interested let me know.

Oh and by the way, I know I'm a newbie as compared to others, but I'd be more than willing to mod and such.

Erm, I would be willing to mod as long as it's okay with you Neelick. Things aren't very busy here (at the moment), so there wouldn't be a lot of work involved. However if the forum ever gets hit with spambots again, I'll gladly help to remove the trash. ^_^

It is possible to embed java based chatrooms into the forum, although I've never tried to do it myself. Here are a couple of threads on making the mod -

Whatever were going to do to update the board, we gotta do it quick. Someone joined and puta url on the site forum that may lead to "questionable" videos. He says so himself...

We are working on getting some things lined up, but alas, things are slow.

Neelick generally doesn't look at the board on the weekends either.

We also need to think about what exactly we want to do with the Survivors. I'm putting the "Current" Tenchi one on Haitus, and and I actually think doing an Anime Survivor first before trying to restart that one would be best. Many of the players of that Survivor disappeared with all the Down time and then my Haitus...
If we manage to actually do something with the Survivor, it might help to draw more people in (one of the reasons why I think a general Anime survivor rather than a Tenchi Survivor is a better idea first).

The best ideas of something more to make of the Survivors are...
A Web Comic or a Flash toon.
Include more viewer Interaction (I tried this, though it pretty much fell flat, partly since there weren't many other people anyway)
A prise of an Art Commision by myself (Though I did say I would do this for the Tenchi Survivor, but that fell into a coma).

But I would prefer to attract more people here first before Starting the new Survivor.

Here's a Plan.
We decide on the Theme/Series For the Anime Survivor (which number will it be, anyone know?) with a poll here. We should also decide on extra stuff to have for the Survivor, to fleash out the Next stage...
We then "advertise it", spreading word around and stuff. This is why we need more details, to attract more people.
When we seem to be attracting a few more people, we hold the Sign Ups for the players.
We then play out the Survivor, while keeping up the planned features for it.
Once it is over, we wait... say 1/2 a month, then we announce the Tenchi Survivor, as in our... "current" one. It will be a restart, very much along the same lines as this ones (same plot, etc), but with different players (though previous players will be given the chance to say "Yes, I still want to play, ans as the same/Now as___"). Deja Vu gags will be allowed and encouraged.

Anyway... yeah, that's part of my plan... the bit concerning the Survivor...
