Anyone seen this cool show yet? It's only available through fansubs right now <.<;

I've seen the first 5 episodes so far and it's really good. I cant wait for ep6 (which has yet to air in Japan even)

Here is a basic description of the story:

"In this world, there exist people with special abilities to manipulate objects and transform those objects into other objects. These people are known as alchemist. However, this manipulation process does not come without cost, as the basic alchemy rules stated that something with equivalent cost is needed to perform the manipulation.

The main character is a famous alchemist named Edward Elric, who loses his little brother Alphonse in an accident. Edward manages to contain his brother's soul in a large piece of armor suit. However, merging the soul and body of the dearly departed comes with great cost, so the two brothers must embark on a journey to find a mysterious power amplifier which can reduce the cost to manipulate objects greatly."

This is a great show so far. Love the story and the characters. Great animation. Very nice opening and closing music as well as nice music throughout the episodes.

Oh yes this anime is based on a manga of the same name. It follows the manga pretty closely from what I've seen.

The only problem is waiting for more episodes to come out. I still can't believe there is going to be 52 episodes. Hopefully there isn't any filler in there. I hear Square:enix is going to make an RPG of this. Lets hope it turns out awesome.

---------------

My DeviantART gallery freakin-Socrates

I've seen all 5 released so far. It's great stuff. I especially like the ending theme, "Kasenai Tsumi."

Edited by: SSJNate at: 11/5/03 12:26 pm

Ya...I've seen some of that, get ready for another 56 episode anime.
From what I've seen so far it doesn't look repedative, especially since the first few eps are "the present" then it reverts to "this is what happend so we could be where we are today".

So far the story doesn't drag... stuff actually happens, I like it.

As for the ending theme, I like the opening better.
The Grand Pooj, signing off...

Heh I've seen the first Ep of "Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu" It was pretty funny lol I need to get some more of those.

Oh I found some info on the Fullmetal Alchemist game! It's gonna be on PS2 and be out in time for Christmas in Japan. No word yet on if it will be brought over state side.

It will be a weapon-centric action/RPG with more than 30 minutes of original animation created specifically for the show.

more info and screenshots here

---------------

My DeviantART gallery freakin-Socrates

Bleh, for some reason I didn't care for the opening as much. I personally think the full-version of the ending is better than the TV release.

Oh yeah, ep 6 was really good. I think this is going to be the best series of this season by far.

Ep 6 was pretty good actually.
I was schocked when the exam took place over only one episode. Usually stuff like that takes entire seasons. FMA has yet to drag on.

If Avenger wasn't so dull at times I would say it was better then FMA.

Personally, I like Fullmetal Panic 2 more then FMA, it's just....I dunno, funny.
The Grand Pooj, signing off...

I'm still buying the Full Metal Panic DVDs, so I haven't touched the second set of episodes yet.

From what I've seen Avenger, I've nearly fallen asleep from boredom. I haven't been impressed at all.

I'm still trying to find the remaining Ghost in the Shell episodes from this season though...even though the US DVDs are a long ways off, it appears as though people stopped subbing them, making 23 and on impossible to find. It's really the only other show still being released right now that I think compares to FMA.

I agree that so far it has yet to drag on...episode 4 is the only episode you could call "filler" so far, and even then it didn't feel out of place or stupid like the fillers of most shows.

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

Hehe...Avenger is seriously dull, at like....all times. However, if they were to get rid of everything except the opening and fight scenes, it'd be pretty cool. Of course, that would make each episode about 5 minutes long....

You have to admit it has parts that are very cool. They could make an amazing trailor and sell tons of DVDs before anyone realized how dull it is.

I saw the first ep and was all psyched about it just because of the opening and it took me till episode three to realize that it wasn't going to start picking up....ever.
The Grand Pooj, signing off...

K........I'm about to watch episode 7...
Judging by the "watch the next episode" thingy at the end of ep6....I'm guessing the chimera that cries in the night....is none other than!

Well, I'm not going to say, but I've got a huuuuuuge hunch, and I'm very sure I'm right...let's see now...
The Grand Pooj, signing off...

Fullmetal Alchemist episode 7 was an absolute shocker. I can't believe some of the plot twists it's throwing at us already (in a good way!).

If FMA continues to keep its fascinating characters and story developing like this, then FMA could shape up to be quite the outstanding anime ~.^

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

Post subject: Re: Fullmetal Alchemist?

Shocker? Plot twist?

Come on now, that was totally predictable. If not from episode 6 then at least from the first 5 minutes of episode 7. Of course it was sad...but not unpredictable.

I was almost expecting that guy at the end there to un-chimera those two, untill he gave his little line there. Which was unfortunate.

I'd still have to say I'm liking at least two animes of 2003 at least slightly more then FMA.

Fullmetal Panic 2 is sweet, definately a great anime.
Shingetsutan Tsukihime is good, I dunno, I just like it.
Naruto is seriously stretched out, but cool anyway.
Last Exile is also a 2003 release which also happens to be very cool.

So, I like at least two of those better then FMA....I guess.

BTW, very cool Rena icon, that game rocked. (the anime was good too, at least I thought so)
The Grand Pooj, signing off...

Just finished watching Ep7...man it was a shocker to me. So sad...o.o

And I can vouch for about 50 other people on another forum they didn't see it coming either. lol Which of course made the episode even better. Best one yet if you ask me. FMA is turning out to be a great series!

(spoiler!)

The guy with the cursed arm is already quite an interesting character. The whole thing about his brother cursed him with the strange markings on his arm. And something about using his curse to kill those who used alchemy against god. Very interesting.

And considering what happened to Nina and Alexander. The shots of them during the credits...was just pouring salt in the wound.

Ep8 looks awesome. See, I don't know how that wasn't expected... Well, I was thinking the girl, and if not, then the dog. I wasn't expecting both. Definately one though, it just seemed like that's the way it was headed....

I guess that new guy is kinda interesting, I mean Ed and Al have very good reason to be very interested in that man. He seems to have an attached arm and that's what Ed needs, I'm guessing they'll figure there's something to do with him that may help Al as well.

I'm glad Winly was somewhat included in the story again, we've only gotten a little tase of her personality so far.

I just hope a patterns isn't starting... They stay with someone, they turn out to be murdering the townsfolk and doing twisted things to the people near them while retaining their good image in the public because at least one person is covering up for them. Thow in a chimera every other episode and you're set. (that's what I've noticed with the first three people they've thwarted in multi-episode encounters)

That said, I doubt we'll see a problem with repitition, I'm sure whatever may have seemed like is was coincidence.

The Grand Pooj, signing off...
